Just when you thought that Mets injury problems were a thing of the past, According to Newsday Mets beat reporter,David Lennon, Mets first round draftpick, Steven Matz will undergo Tommy John surgery. According to Lennon, Matz will undergo Tommy John surgery this Tuesday At the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. He felt pain in his left elbow while pitching in a extended spring game last week . He was sent to New York  for a examination, an MRI, which revealed an 80 percent tear in the ligament.

Eh, he’s 18. Plenty of time to recover and still be very young.

But still – we’ve seen so many good pitchers never recover from that surgery

It’s not like he was any value to the team before the injury. It is what it is and hopefully he’ll recover successfully.
