Man Up Award for Saturday Night

Mike made it a point to make me regret benching him on my fantasy team today. Pelf went 6 innings of one run ball versus the New York Yankees. He was in total control today, throwing 69 of his 108 pitches for strikes. Pelf has a team leading 6 wins and also a team leading ERA at 2.86. No disrespect to Johan Santana but right now, Pelf is our #1 in this rotation for the moment. Here is a nugget to bring the previous statement home, Pelf is now 4-0 with a 2.12 ERA after a Met loss. Pelf is having an awesome year and should stand an outside chance at making the All Star team if he keeps it up. By the way, Pelf is leading the Mets in MUA’s by 8

What a game for Jason Bay. Jason Bay went 4-4 with a stolen base and accounted for 3 runs. While we signed Bay for his home run power but have not seen much of it, he is helping in other ways. Jason Bay has the team leading batting average at .298 and is leading the Mets in triples with 4. We can only hope with the warm weather, Bay will get those home run numbers up but in the meantime, he is taking a page out of David Wrights 2009 season for better or worse.

HONORABLE MENTION

David Wright for going 2-4 with 3 RBI’s

Francisco Rodriguez for going 1.2 innings to get the save

Angel Pagan going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s

maybe Bay in the 5 hole isn’t quite as silly of an idea as I thought…

I also love the fact that Pelf took that next step up, and is making the haters that said he sucked, would always suck, and could never do anything besides suck the same way that he currently sucked, look like they suck at predicting careers.

It would be interesting to see a list of the posters at various sites that wanted him DFA’s or traded for a used and unwashed jock strap last year.
