Suspect we’ll see Murphy fairly shortly, depending on certain roster/dl moves.

as for Maine..who knows. Sounds like he can pitch, but will they let him?

makes more sense to spend a month or so learning how to play other positions in AAA than coming up here to be a backup.

What positions should Maine learn how to play?

i was talking about Murphy obviously

I wonder if Murphy is any good defensively at 2B.

Unrelated to this, but on the topic of Oswalt, Steve Phillips notes that as a veteran in the middle of a multi-year contract Oswalt has the right to declare free agency at the end of this season if he is traded.

Is that true!? I’ve never heard that rule before.

I heard he said he’d trade Strasburg for him too.

      1. prismo

Yeah just saw that on twitter as well. What a complete joke.

I can’t even fathom…what a terrible trade that would be.

No no. He’d trade Oswalt for 2 interns and 1 admin. assit.

At Buffalo they currently have three outfielders not on the DL, and Val Pascucci, listed as 1B, who played RF this weekend as well as Jesus Feliciano.

they’ve got Russ Adams, Alex Cintron, and Jon Malo listed as 2B. so we’ll see what Murph plays.

Just to add to what Heb wrote from the AP:

“NEW YORK — New York Mets pitcher John Maine has tendinitis in his right rotator cuff and there’s no timetable for his return.”

Does anybody think he will return this year?

    1. ceetar

I think he should return right away. Just deal with it.

give him his couple of weeks on the DL to rest the inflamation, then whatever time they get for rehab, then he needs to either pitch the best he can through any discomfort, or be made to disappear. Sounds like it never is going to be perfect, so maybe he was right, and he just needs to go.

Actually, if he can come back in late June without the pain and some life on his FB again, it will be a Huge boost to the rotation.

Oh, and why haven’t they signed Maya yet? That one sounds like a no brainer.

Well, I think Maine will have no problem return as soon as possible. He didn’t want to go on the DL to begin with, he just wanted to pitch.

And I really hope the Mets are taking a long, hard look at Maya and will try and sign him if he looks serviceable.

guess we have to wait longer to find out where he will play.

Called up to AAA today, and riding the bench.
