Dang Franceour….those that had their doubts about him all along are being vindicated.

Too many people don’t comprehend that there is more to the game than stats. Right now Frenchy for his Mets career isn’t that bad and doesn’t deserve to be replaced by scrubs, but right now he’s playing like that. So unless someone figures out how to get him to be a little more productive, they’ll be right and “this is who he is”, but people do learn more about hitting and it’s not out of the question that he benefited from a new hitting coach and scouting report. I bet he’d benefit from a change again, one that needs to b e made anyway. Maybe a ‘good’ coach would do better at getting him to make adjustments in hitting philosophy?

problem is, he has about 3,000 PAs so far, and while not quite this bad, he has proven to overall not be very good.

And If the new coach (hoojo) was “fixed” him last year, why is he broken again?

        1. ceetar

maybe he’s broken because he’s completely incapable of adjusting or reading how pitchers are pitching him. When he got here and HoJo had a scouting report of how to pitch him, and worked with him on it, he succeeded. He did well early on (I imagine there is a fair chance opposing teams didn’t over-scout the Mets late last year) and then suddenly not. Maybe HoJo has no more ‘new’ info to give him. Maybe he’s not so good at reading pitchers either.

Or maybe he just sucks and it was a sample size issue(even if it was a fairly large one), even if his recent sucktitude is a much smaller sample than his success here.

I know I pimp Amazin Ave a lot, but theres a new article discussing the man himself.

Interesting if you are in to sabremetrics, or are trying to learn more about sabremetrics like myself. Some insight in the comment section as well.

haven’t read that one. I’m research sabermetrics some, and I’ve actually taught myself a lot about it this year, and i’m working on a “Look what you missed, did you factor in this thing? I think your data is faulty” type post in the future as well.

Nice article – and stats back up what I can see with my eyes so far but…way more than I ever want to learn about sabermetrics.

I just like it a lot better when someone else does all the work and all I have to do is read the results. Otherwise, trying to figure out these type of metrics just makes baseball more of a chore for me….LOL.

we all knew Barajas was going to cool off, Francouer has been awful lately but at least he plays a great RF

Barajas is still better than Schneider even when he’s cooled off.

      1. ceetar

Schneider activated for tonight supposedly too btw.

What jumps out at me on this chart is how one of the “coldest” guys has driven in more than twice as many runs as any of the “hottest” guys during this period and has more Runs & RBI combined than all but one of them.
