Man Up Awards For Sunday Night

Mets Brewers Baseball

And the wild card keeps rolling, R.A. Dickey continues to make his case for a solid spot in the rotation with his 7 innings of work. R.A. did something that the Mets pitchers who he is replacing had a hard time doing, keeping the team in the game. Even when he let up the go ahead run for the Brewers at the time, he continued to shut them down and give the Mets a shot at coming back in this one. Dickey has his second win this season and owns a 2.84 ERA. I dont know how long Dickeys run will be and im sure neither will he but what he has going for him is “effective unpredictability”…something that a 12 million dollar pitcher getting a tan in the bullpen used to be. Great job Dickey

I guess Frenchy decided to listen to himself from now on as he went 4-5 with 2 RBI’s. Frenchy is and always will be a streaky player, we can only hope he is in the midst of an upswing in offense as he has been ice cold for some time now. Jeff is a good guy and im pulling for him. If he can keep this up on the road, it will be a huge help for us as our road play has to be one of our biggest issues of this season. Great job Frenchy

HONORABLE MENTION

Jose Reyes and Luis Castillo for going 2-5 with 3 RBI’s combined

David Wright and Angel Pagan for going 4-8 with 3 RBI’s combined

Henry Blanco for going 3-4 and an RBI

Elmer Dessens for retiring the side in a very important 8th inning

Another point in Dickey’s favor……he’s a professional. He quietly goes about his business every 5th day (and sooner he said, if they needed him). There’s no drama, no meltdowns, no antics on the mound, he just pitches. That’s a refreshing change from some lately….

When asked about the conversation Jerry had with Frenchy about not trying to get too much advice on his hitting from too many people…..He said yesterday and today were good signs and he should be O.K. ‘for awhile’. Said he can’t be calling too many people 30,000 feet in the air but he’s sure he’ll find someone’s brain to pick on the plane. hahahaha
