Murphy is asking himself what gods he pissed off this year to deserve this bad luck. All he’s done is work hard and quietly did everything they asked of him…..

Can you believe the kids bad luck?

      1. metsfan4decades

No. You really have to feel bad for the kid.

WONDERFUL! Why do I bother? This team is cursed, perpetually.

That’s awful, what a bad year 2010 is shaping up to be for Murphy.

This unfortunate episode aside, he was not at all likely to be called up anytime soon. Tejada is the clear choice if Castillo has to go on the DL, this simply makes it that much more clear a choice.

    1. Mr North Jersey

True it’s just so sad to hear cause the kid has fought hard to get well and has done all that has been asked of him.

      1. GravediggerHebner

Absolutely. I suppose in a twisted way this is Ike Davis’ fault. If Davis didn’t exist, the Mets would conceivably have been flailing at 1B recently with some combination of Mike Jacobs, Fernando Tatis & possibly Chris Carter. Murphy would’ve been activated from the DL initially and immediately installed as the Mets starting 1B not optioned to Buffalo for this to happen.

As a teenager I used to get really drunk (or otherwise not-sober) with my friends and we’d have these “what if you didn’t exist” conversations and try to imagine the possiblities. Yeah. So forgive my flashback.

          Pink Elephant! Pink Elephant!

does suck royally for murph man. And 2B has been a black hole for the Mets ever since Alfonso left.

I bet there will be a few moves made Friday. Castillo to the DL seems like a good bet. ANd I wonder now if it will be Valdes to the DL or minors to get Neise up.

And while they are making moves, maybe a few more? Probably too much to hope for.

    1. stickguy

and of course, the big move to hope for, firing the proven incompetent in the manager’s office, goes without saying. WOn’t happen, but should.

Hey, the Mets rarely do what we expect, so maybe a massive manager, coach and player massacre Thursday is coming to shock us all!

This team is so damn close. With a few key moves and fresh leadership, I really think they could get hot and make the playoffs.

SHore up the pitching, and dump jerry. That would be a fine start, and carry them until Beltran gets back.

Just saw the video of Murphy play at 2nd. He looked to be behind the bag and the guy kinda tried to barrel roll into Murphy to take him out I guess. Need to see it again but I am not sure how dirty the play was.

That really sucks. I really like Murph and was hoping he could develop into a super utility type. Don’t know how long he’ll be out now, but it’s really frustrating and you have to feel for the kid. On a positive note, Reese Havens homered twice and went 3-for-3 today for Binghamton. That’s your second baseman of the future (although he too has had injury woes).

    1. stickguy

if reese can stay on the field now, and keeps hitting like this, the future can come a lot quicker than expected.

the more I think about it, thursday is actually shaping up to be (well, probably Friday at this point) a day of big changes.

Or at least, for a team with a clue, it should be.

They really need to make some changes to patch up the BP. And of course, need to prepare for Neise to come back. So, at least 1 fresh arm for the pen + neise, meaning a minimum of 2 current guys need to go.

Plus, I still think Castillo ends up on the DL. so that of course means a position player move.

so even without an unexpected GMjr. move, it could be a busy day.

So, go for a home run, and lop off the tumor at the head too!

So, are we thinking/hoping for valdez down, misch up, ollie DFA, Niese in, GMJ DFA, Feliciano up, Castillo to DL, Tejada up?

I know most if any of those things prob won’t happen, but you never know.

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

I think Valdes DL, Ollie stays in the BP or minors, Niese in, GMJ stays put, Feliciano stays put, Castillo DL, Tejada up (I like to see Reese Havens up, but I guess he’s still a year away).

    From the Buffalo News Sports:

  9. oleosmirf

why cant they just DL Perez for 15 games and make up an injury?

    1. njstuckintx

Would love that, but I think the league was cracking down on “phantom” injuries.

      1. DNDJohan aka kistics

I think Maine’s injury is “phantom” injury too.

      2. oleosmirf

Ollie is mentally fatigued and delusional…sounds like he needs help to me…
