Man Up Awards For Saturday

amd_jonathan-niese

Talk about a full recovery. Jonathon Niese held the Marlins to 1 run over 7 innings with 6 punch outs. In a lineup with only one lefty(outside of the pitcher), Niese found a way to get out of every jam. It wasnt until the 7th inning that the Marlins got to Niese but only got away with one run. Im sure nobody is shedding a tear over Olivers demotion in favor of Niese…and he just showed why. Great job Jon.

Ike Davis was in a terrible slump going into tonights game but even the worst slump can be cured by a 4-4 game. Ike Davis did just that, along with 3 runs and an RBI. What most baseball people would call the “league catching up” to a player, Ike was murdering the league in April(hitting .324). However, the league was not so giving in May as Ike hit only .235. Even so, this has not stopped his dominance against lefties. Ike Davis is hitting .325 against lefties and get this, only .219 against righties. No surprise I guess that Ike did so well today…good job kid.

HONORABLE MENTION

David Wright went 3-4 with a homer and 3 RBI’s

Jeff Francoeur seems to be coming around, he went 2-4 with an RBI

Jenrry Mejia and Fernando Nieve keeping the Marlins off the scoreboard for 2 innings

Yesterday was a feel good day all around – great pitching great hitting – making hanley look even more stupid – and no more Ollie ( for now !!!) life is good !

Ha! – Make Hanley look even more stupid. I can’t believe the amount of Met fans I saw willing to trade Hanley for Reyes straight up. Hanley seems to be not much of a team player….

even if Ike hit .235 for the entire year, with his production and great D, he would still be a vast upgrade over Jacobs or tatis.

I am not sure “vast” is an adequate word.

I would go with “gargantuan” “titanic” or “incalculable.”

Plus, Ike is almost certainly going to get better.

There is NO chance Tatis or Jacobs are going to get better.
