I’ll probably be in the Dugout to discuss the Mets’ pick if other’s are interested. Not sure how much there is to talk about though.

probably not much, since we all only know the little bit we read on the blogs.
as long as it is someone rated well (no Jeff Lagamen picks) that the pundits don’t ridicule, and they actually sign him quickly, I am all good.

i believe that college bats are the most sure thing you can get in the MLB draft. I would try to stay away from HS players in first round as the HS players take so long to develop that so many things can go wrong from injuries to adjusting to pro ball to bad management decisions.
To me its a tough sell drafting a HS player 7th overall in the draft unless they are one of those no-brainer guys where they are men amongst boys. I want to see them draft a collegiate position player.

If I get my current computer problems squared away, I’ll be in the dugout tonight. I’m not holding out hopes though I’ll have these problems worked out by 7pm.
Man, I hate Comcast…..anyone actually try and talk to one of their service technicians? You know you’re in trouble when you don’t know much, but you know more than the customer service rep you’re trying to get answers from……

LOL. That reminds me of an old friend who had a job answering phones as a computer problem troubleshooter. He knew very little about computers and his advice was always the same: “Turn off your computer, wait a minute, then turn it back on. If the problem still exists call us back.” He did this for months until his superiors caught on and fired him immediately.

My sister was on the phone with HP support for over 12 hours. The problem is that most of customer service is located in other countries where the support personal have poor command of the English language.

I would love to join you but I have something more important to attend to tonight, like watch grass grow.

I’m always in the dugout. Chances are you could always pop in, mention my name, and get my opinion on virtually anything.

Also, they will have this on the mlb network too, so you can watch on hi def.

Rosenthal dropped some potentially interesting tidbits:
- Mets would be reluctant to include Ruben Tejada in a trade for a starting pitcher;
- R.A. Dickey has stopped trying to be like other knuckle ball pitchers and just be himself instead, and has achieved better results;
- Jeff Francoeur is impressed with the Padres bullpen.

If a team doesn’t sign with their picks, they get the same pick next year? weird…
6/7/2010-4:37pm at 4:37 pm (UTC -4)
Some do yes, I’m not sure of the rules or how many rounds it covers. I know that the Mets did not sign two of their picks last year (5th & 6th round I think, I know it was 2 of their top 10) but to the best of my knowledge they get no extra picks this year. I do know that if you didn’t sign a pick last year and so get an extra pick this year but you fail to sign that pick too, that’s it you don’t get another one the year after.
6/7/2010-4:46pm at 4:46 pm (UTC -4)
So if the Mets don’t sign the #7th pick this year, they get 7th pick next year?
6/7/2010-5:00pm at 5:00 pm (UTC -4)
I don’t know the rules but it looks like it’s one pick later.
For example, this year Texas has the 15th pick for not signing last year’s 1st round pick # 14, and Tampa has the 31st pick for not signing last years 1st round pick # 30. So if that logic follows the Mets would pick # 8 next year if they fail to sign their pick this year.
This year’s order (note Texas compensation pick # 15 & Tampa # 31)
Last year’s draft (note the Texas # 14 & Tampa # 30)

so lets say hypothetically its a very weak draft year but you know the next year is extremely strong. my question is do you not sign the pick on purpose?
