    Free Havens!

No, I am serious about this one. Get the kid has ABs ASAP, and get him up here. 2B has been a total wasteland all year. Ike him up baby!

I was there a little while ago but I am now content with Tejada being here for a few months. HOWEVER, really need to get Havens to AAA soon.

isn’t the word on Castillo that it won’t be long and he’ll be back?

        1. trs86

Who knows or at this point cares?

The Castillo we have seen this year provides little value.

            yes but that’s called slumping.

Toby Hyde seems to believe Havens won’t be up till Sept. due to his inexperience/rawness in the field at 2b. I wonder if what happened to Murphy (dirty or not) causes the Mets to have any reticence calling up a guy with so little 2b experience. Tim Teufel seemed to believe Havens will eventually be a solid 2b.

      1. trs86

I think that if Castillo stayed healthy and Murphy did not get injured that might have been the plan. Now things may depend on Castillo’s health and Tejada’s bat.

Havens is on a torrid pace if this continues Havens will be up before you know it. I think though 15 games of AA experience is a bit too soon to bring him up to the Bigs. I am sure most would agree with that conclusion or at least I’d hope.

        1. trs86

Yeah you are most likely right unless the circumstances are dire.

          1. Mr North Jersey

Let us all pray we don’t have a dire circumstance.

The Mets minor league hitters have outproduced the Mets minor league pitchers by a large margin so far.

I suspect that if the Mets want to make some July moves they’ll have some difficulty unless a few of the pitchers on the farm start the smoke and mirrors show quickly.

Wanny, what the hell’s up with the name? LOL.

      1. youngvalerawest

Couldn’t remember my password… and since minor league pitchers were on my mind, I figured I pick a few that didn’t quite pan out.

They were supposed to be separated by dashes!

        1. trs86

Need help with that password? I think I can email it to you.

          1. youngvalerawest

Nah, thanks, though. I clicked remember me this time.

And at home I’ll still be logged in as Wanny.

I’ll keep you on your toes.

          2. trs86

Don’t worry NJ has taken over in that department. LOL I miss yours though because you actually use stats to defend your argument and are actually better than me at debating.

I’m annoyed that I forgot my camera at home and won’t be able toget it before the game.

    1. trs86

Eh go by Wal-Mart or something. By a camera for the game, take the pics and return the camera tomorrow….
Not that I would ever do anything like that.

      1. ceetar

Heh. well, depends where I’m going to be sitting for one. I could feasibly get home at lunch..trying to decide if i’ll be somewhere that I’ve never been before and may want totake pictures of.

Is walmart good about returning open electronics? (Not that I couldn’t make use of another big memory card)

  4. GravediggerHebner

So I guess I wasn’t paying attention because I missed that Mets # 1 pick Matt Harvey is the son of Bryan Harvey.

    1. GravediggerHebner

Some guy claiming to be Matt’s HS coach claimed this on Joe & Evan this morning, but it is not validated by any source. Perhaps Joe & Evan got punked, and by extension I did too.

  5. wannybackstra

Keith Law liked the selection of Matt Harvey but had the following to say about the Mets’ day 2:

    New York Mets:
The Mets went for almost no ceiling on Day 2, choosing largely college players, many of whom just aren’t very good. Their second- through fourth-round picks are “name” college hitters who don’t project to make enough contact with the wood bat, led by the whiff-tacular Cory Vaughn, son of former big leaguer Greg. Fifth-rounder Greg Peavey didn’t sign out of high school thanks to high bonus demands but hasn’t progressed since going to Oregon State and doesn’t project as more than a fifth starter. The only good tough sign I see is 24th-rounder Erik Goeddel, a draft-eligible sophomore reliever from UCLA who’s been 94-97 the past few weeks; his father was employee No. 3 at biotechnology company Genentech and later co-founded Tularik, and Goeddel is likely to go back to school to be the Sunday starter in 2011.

  6. CaseStreet

any interest in Kelly Johnson or Rickie Weeks?

    1. stickguy

not likely. Johnson has come way back down to earth. And rickie weeks is still, well, rickie weeks.
