Can this lineup do any worse than the 2 hit 2 run performance the 1st game lineup gave us? Wait don’t answer that!

as long as the Pads don’t roll out that nasty slider dude…

Is it raining out at Citi?

Anyway, stadium folks just rolled the tarp out over the infield.

“Loud Mouths” are ripping Jerry’s lineup for tonight.

I like the way you look at things. Way to go!

Did anyone see the Minaya interview on SNY where talks about Beltran’s progress?
    http://web.sny.tv/media/video.jsp?content_id=8858161

Minaya looks like he is trying so hard not to say the wrong thing.

The good thing is he is reporting Beltran is running sideways. Is that running at 70% or 80% who the hell knows.

Also unless I misunderstood I believe he said it will be 4 to 6 weeks from the time he starts playing in rehab League games but I believe that was pretty much the accepted time frame.

    1. metsfan4decades

Minaya always sounds like he’s trying hard not to say something dumb. And usually winds up doing just that. Not quick at the draw….

    2. Hazmet

Running sideways excellent. Wait till he starts going backwards,oh wait I think he did that already…back by mid-May, back by Memorial Day or thereabouts, back by the all star break, back after the all star break…. wake me when he’s playing “meaningful games” in AAA.

      1. fongy2

        Thank You!
The whole “he’ll be back in early May” thing was typical Omar/
Wilpon Jive to get everyone to move on and away from the focus
        of the story which was/
is WHAT A MESS THE FO
        MADE OF BELTRAN’S AND
        OTHERS INJURIES!

        1. Kingman 26

          Not totally.

Beltran must take a large share of blame for this.

As I said before the season started, Boras and Beltran CLEARLY are taking their sweet time, preserving Beltran so that he can be 100% healthy for his walk year in 2011. There is no way a sane person can believe that Beltran has been working his hardest to get back ASAP.

I still say that if Pagan and Francoeur can play like this all year, SCREW Beltran and his leech parasite agent, and have a 3-man CF/RF platoon, which might just be the best for the team.

          1. fongy2

            O.K.,
            I’ll accept that.

          2. Kingman 26

I have known from our very first exchanges that you were really smart….

Nice…..hope he’s enjoying dinner at the Caeser’s Club.

      1. Kingman 26

I didn’t go there last year, but I went to the Acela Club, and it absolutely put the Diamond Club and Grill Room at Shea to shame….beautiful, extraordinarily well-designed to allow amazing views of the field, and the food was surprisingly very good, as was the service.

Now, I just wish it was called the Cleon Club or Gil’ Hideaway or Chez Keith, but hey, that’s just me.

I give some of you long-timers ALOT
of credit for your patience with certain players and aspects of this
    team.
For me, I’m about out of it with the
15 million dollar a year players on
our team who just never seem to be able to get the job done.
Friggin JBay…Save me the tears guy
    and just earn your money.
Amazin’ that when you look at the numbers posted in the previous thread
that last year was his career best….
When playin’ for a fat new contract.
    Beltran….Enough already!….NOW it’s
    maybe in a couple months??
Write this season off for him, solidify
the OF with a legit #4 man out there
AND under no circumstances do we discuss an extention!!
    Friggin’ Johan…We Love Ya!!…Really
we do…BUT how many times can you be spotted a lead only to hand it back??
I know I sound old, which is funny ’cause I neither look nor feel
my age, BUT back in my day you hand
    your Ace a 2-0 or 3-0 lead AND it’s
    game over.
While we all nit-pick on the GMjrs
and Sean Greens of the world, we all..
..including me most of the time give
free, or atleast cheap pass to the guys getting paid to do most of the heavy lifting.

    1. Kingman 26

Well, I have to disagree with much of this my esteemed friend. Everyone who is realistic here knew there was no way in hell we were seeing Beltran before the all-star break. I do completely agree about Beltran; I honestly don’t even care if he plays another game in a Met uniform.

Bay is hard to figure, but as I pointed out the other day, while his HR and RBI are indeed alarmingly off–and I know we are paying him to hit HR and accumulate RBI–he IS hitting, he IS getting on base, he IS stealing bases, he IS playing a very good LF, and he apparently IS a serious pro and a great clubhouse guy, just like Francoeur.

GMJ and Jacobs were revolting mistakes who did not deserve to wear the uniform, and look what the team has done since the two of them (and Ollie and Maine) have stopped playing.

And while continuing to lob criticism at Omar, this team has no Beltran, Bay and Reyes are having off years, Wright is still not himself, we have had a revolving door of a starting rotation, we have a terrible bench outside of Blanco, we have Jerry’s frequent questionable decisions, and we are 3 games above .500, 3 games out of 1st and 4 from the WC.

The catchers have been excellent, Dickey has been a huge plus so far, the fundamental play is much improved over last year, and the team HAS been making changes, jettisoning garbage, bringing up youngsters, Pelf has arrived, Niese looks great, and we have a lot of players in the minors with potential.

The window for the 2006 team closed on the last day of 2008. 2009 was a lost year. 2010 is year one of the future.

This year is like a cross between 1983 and 1984—better for sure than 1983, but still needing one more real good everyday player and another really good starter to be the 90 win team of 1984 and 2011.

      1. fongy2

Again,I’ll accept that coming from you.
My point was more how we fall in love with our superstars and they can do no…or little wrong.
JBay I’m glad to have BUT really he should be buying lots of dinners for the likes of Dickey,Barajas&Pagan
ALL working on the cheap and w/o who,we don’t have a season right now.
And again, whats that 3,4 times so far this season Johan’s been spotted a 2,3 run lead
only to give it up and lose the game?
Ace, yes….Great Pitcher?, Not so fast!

        1. Kingman 26

I also agree on Johan; too many surgeries.

But he is going to be a more than adequate number 3 next year behind Pelf and Niese.

Hell, maybe number 4 if we get Roy Harvey Oswalt.

And you wisely say: “Dickey, Barajas & Pagan ALL working on the cheap and w/o who,we don’t have a season right now.”

Throw in Blanco, and say thanks to Don Omar!!

          :-)

  7. wannybackstra

    feliciano not impressive so far.

    1. Kingman 26

He looks like a guy who has been in the minors for 15 years….oh wait, he is!

    2. GravediggerHebner

When he casually jogged to first base on a ground ball I was already done with him. He’s not a 20 year old highly touted prospect not running out an infield pop up, he’s a 31 year old career minor leaguer who had to be talked out of retirement this off season jogging out a grounder. The sooner someone talks him back into retirement the better. What a load of crap that was. I’m disgusted. As many viewed GMJ with contempt, I view Jesus Feliciano. At least GMJ ran out ground balls.

      1. fongy2

        Agreed!

      2. Kingman 26

I agree 100%, and I would have LOVED to see him pulled from the game.

        Outrageous and unacceptable.

      3. Mr North Jersey

You’d think he’d be chomping at the bit.

But no worries because he will be gone sooner than you think if he fails to produce.

      4. Mr North Jersey

What is sad is coming up and not running out balls. I mean what is up with these guys? Fmart also did it I believe. I wonder of players handle it internally and call him out?
