Geez Ken change your mind much? Didn’t he say less than a week ago that the Mets were “not true contenders?”
Now he’s saying they need to add a big time pitcher to the trio of Santana/Pelfrey/Niese? The implication being those guys are big time pitchers. What team has 4 big time pitchers?
I swear to God he makes this stuff up as he goes along. He speaks slowly enough he should be able to come up with better BS than this during his stilted monologues.

Nah I know how Fox loves to sensationalize everything. My point is always that they are to make things more fair and balanced. Not that they actually are fair and balanced.

That is definitely not my belief at all…I think you are VERY patient and tolerant and utterly reasonable.
Rosenthal just annoys the hell out of me. He’s the geek of baseball analysts.
BP in flux? Yeah, like that Philly BP down the turnpike is oh so settled and dominant. I truly don’t see their starting rotation any better than ours either. As a matter of fact, I think ours IS better….
Actually it would never take place the rumor would have been completely false and we would all just be sitting there waiting for something that was never likely to happen anyway.
i think he’s right though…right now Dickey is doing well but Takahashi might be overexposed now and Maine and Ollie are certainly not answers so they do need a SP.
more importantly I think we need more help in the bullpen…and the answers are not in house. We need 1 reliable arm there to go along with Feliciano, K-Rod, Takahashi, Dessens and Mejia
Yes to be fair I felt Rosenthal’s bullpen point was a valid one. But the dude is all over the map, it’s as if anything he may have said the day (or week) before simply doesn’t exist anymore.
I agree Grave. The bullpen point was his only that I agree with.
The way Pelfrey’s pitching this season, and Niese’s last two starts, and then Santana…the Mets may have three extremely solid starters. How many teams can say that? Certainly less than half.
However, I must admit…if they traded for Lee and had a 1-4 of Santana/Pelfrey/Lee/Niese, I would have to think it’s the best rotation in baseball. I hope I’m not too biased in thinking that. Three cy-young caliber pitchers.
That’s more than most teams have. It’d be nice, but they can get by. Bullpen’s are a very fluid thing. Takahashi will be there shortly as Maine is likely returning. Perez likely will be back as well.

His grin as he takes a jab at the NL when he says all you need is a pulse in the NL to be built for the long haul is what irked me the most.
It just shows you that it’s not what you know but who you know. Because Rosenthal I think just reads what he sees come across the AP Wire.

He works for Fox. Facts and knowledge have zero role in their news operations. Just getting attention; that is all that matters.

Neither one of them could hit hard enough to inflict damage.
It would be a whiny slap-fight with no serious injuries.

Niese’s last 2 starts have been spectacular but lets not anoint him a top starter right now…he still needs to prove he can be good consistently…
I would like to see us get a millwood type to be the #3/4 SP and acquire a proven reliever to solidify the 8th inning…
