I may be accused of smoking something but I’m gunning for the guy 90 miles south so we can state we have the best 1B in the NL East.
65 fewer AB’s
2 less HR’s at 8 to Howard’s 10
11 Doubles same as Howard
24 Walks to Howards 21
31 Runs to Howards 37
RBI’s not fair based on AB’s but for the sake of completness 22 RBI’s to Howards 43
In so many fewer AB’s it surprisingly close. I’d love to see him pass him in HR’s just for a brief time while Howard’s been slumping. That would be sure to irk a few filth fans.
But the sad aspect is their respective OPS numbers put them 11th & 12th out of 15 qualifying NL 1B (only Berkman/Helton/Lee are worse).

But for Rook cutting his teeth for me it speak’s loudly to the upside. I started watching this because in tracking the ROY vs. Heyward I think the only way Ike can get it is by parralleling close to Howard and stake that NL East best 1B tag. There’s so much buzz on Heyward from before the season I think most of the ROY voter’s cast their vote before a game was even played. Heyward’s a great talent too but all I’d like to see is an unbiased race for the ROY and let the number’s and team’s finishes speak for themselves.
Also, continued great f’in work on the wrap ups every night. They make being a fan all the more enjoyable. Also, I saw the OPS too but showed favoritism chalking it up to Ike’s being in his pup stage still.

Ike’s HRs replays never get old…

It’ll be interesting to see if Ike can overtake Heyward for ROY.

doubt it, but he should hopefully finish in the top 5.
he is also only 4 RBIs behind Bay, even though he didn’t come up until May.

Very interesting. It never occurred to me to compare the two but now that you’ve started, more numbers:
Ike’s OBP/SLG/OPS = .346/.451/.797
Howard’s = .344/.457/.802
Based on those numbers they are virtually the same player.

Well, with all they hype, haven’t they already engraved the trophy with Strassburgs name on it?
Leake will have to get some consideration too.
Lots of good rookies this year actually.

Been wondering that very much myself…if he doesn’t surface soon, I will send him an email and see what’s up in The Real World.

I was just assuming that being a teacher he’s wrapped up in end-of-school-year stuff, but I suppose there could be something else to it.
I’m not sure but I think I recall Fongy being related to Snell in some way and no I’m not joking. But I could be misremembering.
