don’t worry knog, it was just a joke. I swear.
Jerry certainly does seem more in his element playing AL baseball.

might be time to flip barajas and frenchy. Hot rod has cooled way off. As has the “sign him to an extension” now buzz..
Big game here. Taking the first one of the series will take a weight off, and tehy will almost be playing with house money.
also, supposed to be hot (90s, right?) and humid this weekends, and they are both day games. SO who knows how that impacts the pitching, but if nothing else, expect to be into the pen early.
Oh, and keep the EMTs handy, in case Fatso keels over on the mound. And a crane of course.

A secret Island off the coast. (Governor’s..) NY Brewfest. Over 300 different types of beer.
Now, If I only had a droid I could stream the audio of the game. I set up my verizon alerts to text me on change of score and end of inning with summary, but they haven’t been working the last few days. hmm.

you mentioned beerfest. I just forgot where it was.
I do have a droid, but have no idea how to do that.

well, I’d do it through the MLB At Bat App most likely.
I have on on my iTouch, but no data connection obviously.
Although the Droid X looks tempting, I’m not actually up for a new phone on my contract until November.

I’m jealous. Most of the local stuff down here sucks. They do stock Fat Tire, though, so I got that going for me.

There is more good beer around these parts than I know what to do with.

Yeah, I miss NYC. We do have yahoo’s in overalls swilling Lone Star Lite to trim down their 46″ waists…
I wouldn’t be the one to ask to work on the Houston Tourism campaign.

I envy you your Brewfest. When I lived up in Boston Harpoon had periodic gatherings that were quite enjoyable. So many fresh kegs…so many pints…

I’m excited. It’s supposed to be huge this year. I went a couple of years ago and had a blast, and it’s supposed to be twice as big. and it’s on an island I have to take a ferry too. and I may be able tosee that Red Bull air race thing from there. Now hopefully the Mets don’t kill my buzz during it.

If it’s half as fun as it sounds like it will be you won’t even notice the Mets except for those pre-programmed updates you mentioned above. I’m still trying to figure out how I got home from some of those Harpoon gatherings. Have a great time!

philly might have obnoxious fans and nasty sports teams, but they do have a very good and active craft and micro brew industry going.
They also have a very nice week long (I thik) beerfest at about this time of year. I have never been, but have read about it.

I still recall my schoolgirlish excitement when Sam Adams first came out. Damn I need a beer.

it was two weeks ago I think. Yeah, Philly doesn’t do too badly in the beer dept (their gov’t confiscated “unlicensed beers” on the other hand..)

I wonder if there is a bourbon-fest anywhere outside of Kentucky?
Well, in locations other than my place….

i was going to say the same thing…Barajas is really struggling/coming back to earth…

I do recall reading about Barajas being a guy who wears down (like most catchers might) with a heavy workload as the season progresses. He’s played a lot and is a bit knicked up IIRC and I think that’s showing up in his offense, which really isn’t good even when he’s healthy. He shows occasional flashes of clutch power but that’s about it, and that has disappeared recently.
You guys know I don’t rush to criticize Manuel as much as some of us but one thing I will criticize him for is he has played Barajas a bit too much. We’re not talking about Joe Mauer here, we’re talking about a 34 year old heavy set catcher with a career OPS of .697 who has been playing over his head offensively (.772) and who traditionally falls off in the 2nd half (stats back this up) that’s started 48 of his team’s 66 games, that’s 73%. Prior to the season I was hoping the Barajas/Blanco breakdown would be more in the 60-65ish/40-35ish range. I think if the workload were doled out more like that it would benefit Barajas and by extension the Mets.

I recall reading about Barajas wearing down as well. I actually made a point of talking about this a couple of weeks ago when Thole was up. Again before this road trip suggesting they give Barajas 2-3 days of DH duties.

hopefully we wil start seeing Blanco get a few more starts.
and since it is supposed to be very hot for the day games, barajas might keel over with too much work!
I also expect we will see Thole again at some point, since I can’t believe both of our C’s will be able to make it all year without a little vacation on the DL.
Thole is absolutley raking down in AAA since the beginning of May. Not sure about his defense (although that has been getting favorable reports) but his bat sure the heck looks ready!
