Port St. Lucie, Fla. - The New York and St. Lucie Mets announced today that outfielder Carlos Beltran is scheduled to make a rehab appearance with the St. Lucie Mets Thursday, June 24th at Digital Domain Park in Port St. Lucie, FL. Beltran has been playing in extended spring training games, however he has now been cleared by team doctors to begin an official rehab stint. Beltran is recovering from a bone bruise of his right knee which has sidelined him since late June of last season.
Beltran, a five-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove Award winner, is scheduled to appear in the St. Lucie Mets Thursday night game at Digital Domain Park against the Palm Beach Cardinals. Game time is 7:00PM and the gates open at 6:00PM. The first 500 fans to the ballpark will receive a deck of St. Lucie Mets playing cards compliments of Harrah’s and ESPN 760 and fans can enjoy $1 Hot Dogs, $1 Pepsi and $1 Budweiser throughout the game.

it is truly scary to think how ugly some of the fans in NY would get with $1 beers. $7 beers don’t slow them down much!

I was at the dump next door on Sunday. Many of the fans buying from the vendors ($9) a pop for beer were letting the guy keep the change, so $10 a beer. crappy beer at that. The best is when the guy came and said he had to leave, last call, even though it was only the 6th. sold a ton, and probably went back in, got another case, and went to a different section.

If Beltran can somehow make it back healthy by August, that’s better than any position player trade you could make to strengthen the lineup.

well, hopefully the rehab goes per schedule, so he can be back right after the ASB, so they have a couple of weeks before the trade deadline to “evaluate”
