Somewhat related, Gammons just said that (I paraphrase) “The Phillies thought they were getting 3 good chips in the Lee trade and so far it hasn’t worked out that way. They have a lot of talent in the minors but it’s at the lower levels and due to the age of their major league club they are not flexible to move many pieces at this deadline.”

No I’m not. I’m still hoping for a Howard to the DL with a hangnail and Vicky to go on the DL due to a Kaz Matsui type injury, if you know what I’m saying. That would leave just about Werth not on the DL, which would be about as equal to what the 2009 season held for the Mets.

Take that Olney, Stark and the rest of you Philly lovers!

Ah, that felt good to type.

I figured a song with lyrics that state “Let the bodies hit the floor” would show a hint of sarcasm.

I figured wrong in your case I guess. :-D

My super duper Firewall of doom blocks most of this stuff. All is see is a big spot of white. Had I the power to fight firewalls a la Harrison Ford, then I’d be appreciating the sacrasm like a fine wine! :)

        1. Mr North Jersey

When you get home then you will appreciate it better.

Did you ever look into proxy sites to bypass firewalls? Or remoting back to your home to surf the net with a 3rd party app or site?

          1. njstuckintx

            I haven’t. Maybe I should… So much for work production then…

          2. ceetar

Got recommendations? I don’t think proxy would work, but RDP or something in my computer would. How do I go about setting something like that up? go to my PC? Recommendations?

          3. Mr North Jersey

well my favorite app for remoting from anywhere is something called Teamviewer

It is even Mac compatible now and it can be run off a thumbdrive.

It doesnt require installation to use and it is free.

I been using it for years now.

          4. Mr North Jersey

As far as surfing the net bypassing very strict firewalls.

            try this one.

            http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html

but flash sites may not always display well.

I also use tis site to find a proxy that works.

I for one won’t revel in the phillie’s fans (and players) pain…
Don’t want the bad karma or to bring
    it onto our Mets…
BUT I will tell ya, it should be interesting now listenting to McCarthy,Wheels & Sarge on their
    broadcasts making excuses for the
    teams failings. Like Marley said…
    “What go around come around”….
And no matter who they lose and/or
    for how long…NO EXCUSES!!…
I’ve been a heavy duty sports fan
since the mid-70s AND have a pretty good idea of the history before THAT
and I still can’t come up with any team in any major sport which lost
more time from more important players
    than we did last year……
NOW, putting the karma thing aside
for a sec….I wish this injury rash
    on the yankees next!!1 :)

    1. Mr North Jersey

Agreed the intent is not to revel but rather just a lil good natured ribbing.

      1. fongy2

        I know, I know!
I’ll tell ya,as much as I dislike and dont trust Omar,I will say
        I think hes goin about
        this SP shopping thing
        the right way.Yes I’d
love him to do something now BUT as
        the weeks pass,while
        we hang in there,many
        other viable shoppers
fall out of it as buyers.
        Texas&the dodgers are
        hindered by unsettled
        ownership situations,
        Washington,the cubs
        and even the brewers
are looking more like sellers. The Cards,Giants, yanks, red&whitesox dont need SPing AND despite what Gammons says,
the phils don’t have 2 or3 top prospects to get a Lee,Oswalt or
        Haren. That leaves US,
Minny, Atlanta…And maybe The Rox as potential shoppers for
the top tier Pitchers on the market.
        I’m not mentioning SD
        or TB because, well…
        they’re SD and TB..And
        they never,ever take on salary.
So in the end where do these sellers go to
        unload the Pitchers/their salaries???

        1. Mr North Jersey

From all accounts no one disputes that the Mets are in a Buyers market and are in a great position to add a SP.

So what does all that mean?

Mets do nothing and Ollie and Maine pitch us to the W.S.?

          Yikes!!!

          1. fongy2

            My point is close
to the deadline we may well be in a postision to get a serious SPer w/o having to give
up a heavy package of A-list prospects.

          2. Mr North Jersey

I agree. I was just having fun at Minaya’s expense.

          3. fongy2

            Alwys good in my book..Juunowatemsayin’???

  4. GravediggerHebner

Angel is back in the lineup

    1. fongy2

      Angel in the outfield???

  5. Mr North Jersey

So Mejia going on the dl shouldn’t be a big surprise to anyone right?

    1. Mr North Jersey

I mean from all accounts it was going to be a few weeks before he would be able to pitch again at best.

      1. fongy2

        Hopefully it WILL only
        be a few weeks!

  6. fongy2

Its too bad we dont play the phils
    anytime soon,since this journeyman
AAAA infielder they just called up
Brian Bocock likely wont be around
long. Hearing ” Dickey delivers to
    Bocock” would be pretty funny….

    1. njstuckintx

If there was a Putz involved, then pandamonium would follow…

      1. fongy2

        Not sure which would
        worse….Or better…
        for Bocock…A Dickey
        Knuckleball..Or a Putz
        high-hard one???…..
        …Just sayin’……

  7. metsfan4decades

Don’t wish harm on any player but….I certainly am not sympathizing with any Philly fan over the latest bad luck their team is having. Sorry, cry me a river, Philly…..

  8. Hazmet

Two 15 day DL stints? You call those injuries? Rookies. Pour some Robitussun on it and get back in there – stolen from a Chris Rock routine.
