According to the inimitable Steve Popper via twitter the tarp is off and the last game of the San Juan Series between the New York Mets and Florida Marlins is set to start at 8:30pm.

Bern, baby Bern (Disco Inferno)
Former MLB player Bernie Williams, who never played for either the Mets or the Marlins, is scheduled to perform both national anthems prior to the game which leads me to wonder:Â if Puerto Rico has it’s own national anthem then why are it’s citizens subject to the MLB First-Year Player Draft?

Haha! He is terrible! I saw him try to play the anthem at a Knicks game once, and boy was it bad!
Was about to go out, but am going to stay to hear this!
Watch, we score 12 runs and win a laugher tonight…..

With all due respect you have very very very high standards if you call Williams playing of the guitar terrible.
He is quite accomplished in my opinion.

You are right again; terrible is unfair, and I am largely judging him on a Knicks’ game national anthem (not the easiest thing to play on solo guitar) and a couple of YouTube things I have seen.
I really detest “smooth jazz” and most fusion, so I am definitely not the best judge of Bernie, who is, by all accounts, a great guy off the field as well as being a HOFer on it.
PS—Props to you in comments from me yesterday and in my LAST Jerry Manuel piece today.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend with your family sir!

I’d like to see a Bernie Williams / Bronson Arroyo Shred Off.

All that Grunge Angst, I would assume. Bernie’s playing smooth jazz, lay your woman down by the fire type stuff and in swoops Bronson, sleeveless flannel in all it’s glory and just drops a pearl jam on his skull. game over!

I can testify to the accuracy of that scene based on Seattle circa 1989–1996.

He’s also a complete tool. Well at least he used to be, who knows now.

Also per Steve Popper:
Oliver Perez done for the night – 6 innings, 5 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, 7 K’s – 2 HR’s. In the Florida State League.

Wow, thanks for the update. I think the shadow of Ollie was too much for Jose’s back to take.
