lenno212 Pelfrey left off NL roster. I’m thinking it’s C. Manuel’s anti- #Mets bias at work.
Not that Pelf would have pitched anyway since he’s going tomorrow but I think he deserved the nod. I haven’t seen the official list of pitchers yet and I missed the list on TBS. Waiting for it to be posted somewhere.
Don’t mind Pelf not going, Oleo makes great points on the other guys selected over Pelf. Also pitching the last game before the break I believe. As for Reyes, I wonder if Charlie picked him to make him take that nice cross country flight and back while currently battling this muscle strain. Also, maybe it might add pressure to the Mets FO from retro-DL’ing him with that carrot at the end of the stick. Stir up some stuff inside the Mets maybe if they DL’d him and it kept him from going. Or, get him and put him in the ASG when the Mets may still be resting him. Many possible alterior motives perchance.
Yeah I saw that this morning I wasn’t aware of the DL status and selection rules. Here’s to hoping Jose’s healed up by then, we need him this week with ATL on the schedule.
the 3 SP Manuel added were Carpenter, Gallardo and Hudson.
Pelf is not more deserving than Gallardo or Hudson but i do think he is more deserving than Carpenter, however I do feel Latos is more deserving than Pelf.
although remember that some SP wont be available so Pelf could get a call up as a replacement…
Thanks for the info on who Manuel selected. I can’t seem to find it posted anywhere yet.
Those pitchers are close and since Pelf can’t pitch anyway I guess it is more about getting a full compliment of pitchers for the team.
I’ll bet if Pelf started out slow and dominated lately – with the same record – he would have got the nod.
IMO Pelf should be picked ahead of Lincy and Carpenter. But Cholly picked based on reputation and not performance. Coming out of ST, I could’ve guessed the pitching roster and gotten all of them right.
But then when you have Omar Infante on your roster over Votto/Zimmerman I don’t have much to say about the man….

I don’t know if it’s the way he came across or not, but listening to Charlie’s interview on his pitcher selection, sounded like he didn’t know the new rule of, if you were a Sunday pitcher, you could be selected but not pitch and you could then select an alternate – thereby not leaving you short. Sounded like he either didn’t know, or was trying to use it as an excuse.
And anyway….you can’t really know today who Sunday’s pitchers will actually shake out to be. I’m reading the Mets will probably skip Taka’s next start which has Pelf pitching Sat., not Sunday.
And Pelfrey sounded very disappointed….

considering Charlie managed last years all-star team, i dont believe that.

Lincecum was chosen by the players themselves not by Manuel.
that’s crazy.. I wonder how much of this is true… but if it is true, this should have significant impact on the trade deadline.
By trading for Lee, Mets need to pay him $4-5M. But is he going to bring in more money than $4-5M? Probably if he helps the team to make the playoffs.
Also it seems that the attendance has been up from what I’ve seen. Last season, you can easily get tickets at below face value from stubhub. But this season you can’t. That should tell you what the ticket demand has been. Plus I believe warmer weather should help to get more butts in the seats.

Manuel didnt select Reyes. The players voted for Tulowitzky but since he is on DL, Reyes was players 2nd choice so he gets the automatic spot.

Pelfrey has the numbers but what pitcher would you have them take off? remember that each team needs a representative.

wow…I just saw that Ryan Howard was selected over Votto. That’s just crazy. And that had nothing to do with the fans voting.
