Video: A Fans View Of The Mets Pyrotechnics Night.

In case you didn’t get to go to the Mets Pyrotechnics night. Here is the video courtesy of Tuffdaddycool from Youtube. My favorite sequence came at about 6:45 in when “Teenage Wasteland” came on.

Was a pretty cool show. I don’t know if the camera caught it in that video, but they tried to project images of the Mets on the field. They had machines blowing white smoke for a backdrop, but it didn’t quite work.

Early on I saw the Mets logo on the field but can’t recall seeing the players images.

They had a video going. I only caught glimpses of it. Couldn’t make out who/what. Hopefully they’ll figure that out for next year.

    As in Baba O’Reilly. ;)

    Thanks for this post

I saw The Who (well, 3/4 of them plus Kenny Jones) perform Baba O’Riley at Shea in 1982. After that video of a fireworks display set to the song pales in comparison.

This is where I tease you for being old?

but you can then laugh at me for not knowing what Baba O-Reilly is.

I think the kids today (who are alright by the way) call it “classic rock.”

Just so Grave doesn’t feel alone….

I saw Bruce back in 1976 (I believe) in a small theater – Count Basie in Red Bank, NJ. Probably the last small concert he ever made before he hit it big. He grew up just a couple of towns over from me. The Stone Pony was The place to go to maybe catch him, back in the day.

I’ve seen a bunch of shows in both those venues. Great little places to see a show, for sure.

But do you go back as far as when Bruce was singing songs like “Thundercrack” and talking about Ducky Slattery’s Sinclair Gas Station? I was a big early Bruce fan with lot’s of obscure non-album stuff laying around.

you kids today. No respect for your elders.

I’m sorry, am I on your lawn?

          2. stickguy

yeah, and I would have gotten away with it, if it wasn’t for you meddling kids and your dumb dog.

Yeah, I hear ya. I saw them at the Garden in 1979 first tour after Keith died with the freaky “not to be taken away” chair he was sitting in on the album shots. This was a couple of months before the Cincy Concert tragedy. Strange Days in Who land. Of course, the show was unreal and very emotional being one of the first shows at MSG without Keith. And to all the other Met’s fans, yes I’m that old. Old enought to see Uriah Heap as an opening act, you’d probably need a stone tablet encylopedia to find that band. :)

Watching the Fireworks as they burst from up top around the Perimeter of Citi Fields. I find myself dreaming of seeing something similar when and if the Mets ever clinch a post season birth.

was fairly cool. I knew they wouldn’t be able to do awesome in teh sky effects like at Shea, and I know that’s why they called it Pyrotechnics so as not to compare, but I was pleasantly surprisded.

no when they win the WS…. in 2036… :P

  4. metsfan4decades

That was just cool. I’m always amazed at these shows how they get the music and fireworks choreographed that well.
