Video: For Those Mets Fans That Refuse To Watch The Lebron James Special

Wish there was a Mets game tonight so you don’t have to watch the Lebron James 1 hour special tonight? Well so do I but since there is no game tonight I have for your entertainment the following documentary film courtesy of HuLu.

The film is “Fantasyland” A documentary about Jed Latkin, an amateur fantasy baseball fan who earns the chance to compete in an expert league. It runs for 1 hour and 27 minutes so if you start to watch it at 8:33pm this evening by the time the film is over so will the special. It’s not much but I mean it can’t be as bad as having to sit through an hour of Lebronamania.

    Brooklyn cyclones game on SNY

they retired Pagan’s number and he’s in the booth with Burkhart…plus the African kid is on the State college team which is pretty cool too

Flipping back and forth between the Cyclone and Phils/Reds game.
These minor league guys looks so young….I guess because some are. Those helmets they make them wear don’t help the cause either.

Cyclones kicking ass. The Reds, not so much yet in the 6th…

      1. stickguy

It’s not that they are so young MF….

and yeah, the Reds are letting me down here. Can’t hit Kendrick, in a bandbox?

    Well dang….
    http://www.metstoday.com/4825/mets-2010-games/more-on-francisco-rodriguezs-balky-ankle/

Article implying we got damaged goods when we signed KRod….

    1. trs86

Nothing we did not already know. Krod altered his delivery a long time ago. Good news is his K/9 is back up this year.

      1. metsfan4decades

Which kind of tells me, even if this ankle problem is true, he’s doing whatever he needs to, to keep his success rate….

        1. trs86

Or the ankle is better this year.

      2. trs86

His velocity is 2mph below his career average but his off-speed pitches are also lower. He is also throwing his FB more than he has since 2003.
Throwing more first pitch strikes than ever before, getting more swings and misses than he has since his rookie season. The odd part is that the contact percentage on pitches outside the zone is off the charts.

O.K., bored tonight even switching back and forth between Phils/Reds and Cyclones.

Just read this from MC on FWICG.com

The latest buzz from Houston suggests the Astros will now accept your team’s bad contract in return for you taking on Oswalt and all of the $32 million due to him the next two seasons, but you must also include your best pitching prospect and a young bat… which, to me, sounds like: Oliver Perez, and the one-year and $12 million left on his deal after this season, plus Fernando Martinez and, say, Jenrry Mejia… however, that reads like a deal that would go down in my fantasy league, which leads me to believe it will never happen…
    ************************

That makes absolutely no sense….unless it’s not about the money and everything about trying to get some team to give up their top pitching prospect. They’ll take someone like Ollie? Okay…..

    1. trs86

So basically it is what we heard earlier. The Astros will eat some contract to get better prospects. Only this way they get the potential of a return for eating that 12M.

      1. metsfan4decades

I guess you could interpret it like that. It’s almost like paying for some other team’s prospects.

    2. stickguy

makes sense. The Astros are on the hook for his money anyway. So basically, taking on Ollie is the same as them eating all the salary to get back better prospects.

In a way, the question becomes, what is more important to the mets: unloading Ollies contract, or keeping Mejia and F Mart in the system?

      1. trs86

Well thing is they most likely can’t just take on Oswalt’s salary and keep the prospects. I think if Houston is willing to eat the cash then some team will give prospects. Houston has no money crisis they just have a talent crisis.

        1. stickguy

probably. Just commenting that taking back a bad contract is just a different way of eating the salary. But they do end up with Ollie at least, so potential for something out of him.

        2. njstuckintx

Actually, they do have sort of a money crisis. That’s why their owner has looked into selling the team. Albeit has been for a crazy amount, but he’s been quoted as saying he has considered selling the team.

Their attendance is pitiful. I wouldn’t doubt that they were watching their pennies and looking to reduce payroll.

    And this on Twitter:

Ledger_NYMets No doctor’s visit for Jose Reyes today, despite what he told reporters last night. Team will see how he feels swinging lefty tomorrow.

I don’t see why they don’t just send him anyway. Why not? Did their HMO refuse to authorize the visit?

      1. metsfan4decades

        LOL..
I have absolutely no idea. Does this imply they never did any tests to begin with when it first started bothering him?

        1. stickguy

I think they did. or maybe it was just so simply and obvious the trainers and team doc just diagnosed it?

probably not much you can do anyway for a minor soreness. Could try an MRI I guess.

bottom line, it is something treated primarily with rest, and maybe an anti inflammatory, so just have to wait until it feels better (like Pagan did).

This Reds/Phills game has shown some really poor, wacky defense by both teams tonight.

The pitcher Cueto trying to catch a ball at first with no glove, then getting knee’d you-know-where so that by the time the first baseman picked the ball up and threw to home to get the base runner it was too late.

Werth safe at first, didn’t hear the call and walks off the bag only to be tagged out.

And my personal favorite so far….The Reds threatening down 2-1 with men on 1st and 2nd with two outs. Phillips strikes out on a ball in the dirt, Schneider can’t find it, Phillips, who had already took his helmet off, runs down to first to beat the throw b/c Madson ran off the mound to get the ball Schneider couldn’t find and they both forgot about the guy on second who ran all the way to home to tie the score.

    Entertaining, that’s for sure….

MLB Network is being pretty dismissive of Bronny, kinda funny.

But yeah, Madsen blows the save in his return to the mound. on a K. heh.

    2. stickguy

nice. just read it to my son, and he laughed. We both agreed it sounded like a bad little league game. and we need to see the highlights!
