Sorry I haven’t posted for the last couple of days, between work and going to the Cyclones game Friday night ( Corey Vaughn will be a Major League player – mark my words !), I have been a tad bit burnt out.
Jeez if you had told me that the Mets were going to go on a three game losing streak just before the All Star break I would say you were crazy , but alas it is true. So here we now stand , five games out of first place, a half game ahead of the Phillies and I admit that I am getting a bit nervous. Between Mike Pelfrey being squeezed by the home plate umpire, Jose Reyes looking horrible at both the plate and in the infield and Jason Bay not being able to buy a hit, it’s easy to understand why I am so nervous.
Can someone please explain to me Jerry Manuel’s obsession with bunting – especially in the early innings ? Friday night late in the game trailing by two runs – why would you have a hot hitter in Josh Thole sacrifice with two men on and nobody out? same thing yesterday in the early part of the game when Jose tried to bunt over Pagan. I know the team is struggling at the plate the last couple of games , but why would you want to intentionally give up outs? Honestly, it looked like from the seventh inning on that this team conceded defeat. Lets just hope we can at least salvage the series today with a win, go into the break only four games out and get our guys some much needed rest, because they are in for a long west coast road trip when they return.

And with that said…. HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!
Celebrating birthdays  today are:
Reserve infielder from 1963,Ted Schreiber is 72 (1938) .
Back up infielder from the ’75- “76 seasons, Jack Heidemann is 61 (1949).
Former dominant reliever for the Angels,Donne Wall is 43 (1967) . Too bad he sucked for us when we aquired him in ’01
Reserve outfielder from the ’02 season, Mark Little is 38(1972) .
The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies swapped utility men Chuck Hiller for Phil Linz on July 11, 1967.
New York Mets sold third baseman, Jim Fregosi to the Texas Rangers on July 11, 1973.Yeah Fregosi was a disaster, and to think all we gave up for him was NOLAN RYAN !!!
New York Mets signed free agent utility-man, Bill Almon on July 11, 1980.
New York Mets traded pitcher,Gene Walter to the Seattle Mariners for reliever,Edwin Nuñez on July 11, 1988.
New York Mets signed free agent shortstop,Angel Berroa on July 11, 2009. He was among the many flotsam & jetsam that was used to fill the void of the injured Jose Reyes. Needless to say he didn’t work out that well.
An Mo Vaughn Feels that everyday of the week should be changed to Mo’s Day !

Welcome back.
The allstar game can come fast enough. Even if the Mets lose today, 6 games is not impossible to get back over the course of 1/2 a season. Well, if you aren’t playing hurt players at the top of the line up will the sole purpose of bunting with them constantly. Bad managerial decisions aside, if Pelf can’t un-tip his pitches or make some adjustments, the case for a number 2 in Oswalt becomes all the more pertinent.
My prediction is that no trade happens until Ollie bombs out 2 games or so at the major league level. So basically that will leave Omar with about 1 week to make something happen on the trade front. Like Han Solo, I got a bad feeling about this…

Well at least you got to enjoy one game this weekend in Brooklyn, Rusty…
Here’s hoping we can salvage today’s game as we limp towards the ASB.

Does Johan have to throw a perfect game today to win? Let’s hope not but of course I’ll take it.

Maybe a Perfect game and hit a grand slam. 1 current season monkey and 1 organizational monkey, all in 1 day!

No sir, the float remains running 24/7 just like our nuclear bombers at our air bases.
Always at the ready!
Nice to see you back my friend.
