Wright Talks About Reyes’s Injury

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York has a article that quotes Wright being surprised to know that Reyes was allowed to swing the bat the day after being removed from a game due to injury.

I didn’t know he took batting practice, but that’s a good question for whoever makes those calls.” said Wright.

Who does make those calls? I wonder.

seemingly, no one with either a clue, or a real concern about Reeys getting this 100% healthy in a reasonable amount of time to be good for the rest of the year.

They seem to have reverted back to the theory that it doesn’t matter if they are negatively impacted, as long as the Drs. aren’t saying he will surely hurt himself worse by playing.

IOW, suck it up and play through the pain you wussy!

Of course, like everything else here, this is just my idle speculation, since I am not privvy to all the info that the Mets are.

and it is possible that Reyes is a bit of a baby with these things. Different people have way different pain tolerances, so there are quite likely players that would need a DL stint for sure, and others that might take 1 day, a wrap, some tylenol, and grit it out.

Not saying Reyes is either one of these, but I do suspect that he would make a lousy football player!

nah. Reyes wanted to play the day he hurt it. Manuel said he’s basically been playing because he wanted to. Doctors said he can’t hurt it by playing, he said, “I’m Playing”.

Hopefully it’s not true that he can hurt it worse playing, and he really just needs a couple of days.
