Personally, I prefer Sitck’s Jidiot Report, available 7 days a week at TRDMB.

    :-)

    1. stickguy

glad to see you are back on board the Jidiot bandwagon.

      1. Kingman 26

I am just very much on the Sitkc Bnadwaogn.

  2. ceetar

I hate listening to anything this guy has to say. There is little to no value in it, Francesa rarely asks the right questions, and often asks one’s that have been resolved via twitter/blogs hours or days before. It’s only Kay-driven madness that keeps me from changing the channel most times.

  3. Mr North Jersey

LoL Oh My God, I see VCarver hasn’t changed a bit.

    VCarver July 20, 2010 at 4:22 pm

“I love GKR but using Gary or even Mex as an authority on baseball is laughable. They usually disregard and criticize advanced stats and are stuck in the dark ages.”

Yes, how absurd to listen to them when we have VCarver setting the record straight. Baseball was in the dark before advanced stats. How did they ever get along? If we only had advanced stats back then we would of seen how players like Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente was just really sub par defenders.

The guys is so full of himself it’s time like this I wish I could just layeth the smacketh down on his absurd comments.

    1. ceetar

Gary’s comments during the game last night really got me disturbing about Warthen and Barajas.

      1. Mr North Jersey

        What was said?

        1. ceetar

two comments, that I meant to write up in a blog entry, but haven’t.

One was that he seemed disturbed by the idea that Pelfrey threw on Sunday. “Save your bullets for the game” type thing.

The other was how he noted that they switched up the game plan and were pitching up and in a little more. He pointed out that when you throw a sinker, and you miss up and in, chances are it’s going to be over the plate. and it was. repeatedly.

          1. Mr North Jersey

Ahh I see. Jerry i believe said as much in postgame regarding Pelf needing to get back to what he does best. Didn’t like his approach to the game last night.

    2. Kingman 26

      LOL!!

He could be reasonable, but he is THE classic example of someone who thinks the game is played on a Sabermetrics calculator, not a field.

I remember when he was vividly arguing that Manny Ramirez would not have been that much better for the team than Murph in LF due to Manny’s defense. I mean, Manny is no Clemente, but this was ridiculous.

  4. Mr North Jersey

You know NYBD make a point to tell you how they hate WFAN and how a joke they are and yet they love to bring up tweets about the inner workings of the place.

“NYBD Was just told the Sid/Francesa union is not happening- not surprised since couldn’t get confirmation.”

    1. ceetar

yeah, he goes overboard with the WFAN hate stuff.

    2. Kingman 26

Francesa is still waiting on Brandon Inge.

  5. Mr North Jersey

Ollie throwing in pen. Jerry watched and left halfway through – I assume because he liked what he saw. Get ready for the Ollie era. #mets

Left halfway? I wouldn’t assume that he left because he liked what he saw there Mr Popper.

    1. ceetar

      who knows.

Does sound like he made up his mind though.

But how arrogant is it to leave halfway through? I mean, if you went to a job interview (basically what this is) and the interviewer got up and walked out halfway through? You haven’t even fully made your case at that point!

      1. Mr North Jersey

Maybe he saw the same stuff he saw when Ollie was last here and said, Why bother?

        1. ceetar

then don’t show up at all. That just smacks of having his mind made up, rather than being flexible.

  6. Mr North Jersey

MLB Network just said After Ollie’s bullpen session today the Mets decided on extending Ollie’s rehab assignment and not activating him today.

  7. Mr North Jersey

According to sources, the #Mets are interested in Pirates’ reliever D.J. Carrasco.

    1. Mr North Jersey

OK I give. Who is Carrasco and should I care?

      1. ceetar

a spotted a hint at Pat Maholm as a trade target as well today. I think Pittsburgh may be the hot spot for discussion today.

        I’d take Evan Meek though.

  8. Mr North Jersey

Help I don’t know what to watch Phillie game or Braves game?

    1. ceetar

      I’d probably watch the Angels.

      but of those two? hmm…Braves.

      1. ceetar

no, Phillies. Cardinals are better than the Padres. more fun to watch. Pujols factor.

        1. Mr North Jersey

i just realized Phils game not till 8:15 so I guess its braves bb till then.

  9. Mr North Jersey

Ollie not active tonight. Maybe swapped for Thole postgame.

  10. Mr North Jersey

… from what i can gather, he will not be activated before the game… he will do his throwing… the coaches will evaluate him… if they feel he needs more work, he’ll likely be asked to accept another minor league assignment… if he accepts, it’s back to Triple-A… if he denies, he could be activated sooner than later, most likely replacing Josh Thole or Justin Turner, depending on how the team intends to address the bench and bullpen…

In either case, Jerry Manuel said Perez will most likely be a left-handed reliever when he returns.

    -FWICG.com

    1. ceetar

Manuel supposedly says he’s healthy, he’ll be activated tomorrow.

      1. ceetar

which means catcher, not reliever, will go down, otherwise they’d just send Valdes on his way.

      2. Mr North Jersey

        Just saw that.

Wouldn’t that mean that they carry 3 catchers and send Valdes down if Ollie is healthy?

        1. ceetar

I figured they would’ve done that today, since Valdes is unavailable. but who knows with them really. There’s been chatter about Thole going down after catching Dickey.

  11. stickguy

just saw that Maya finally signed. With the natinals of all places.

wonder how much he got on the contract? If not a lot, still think it would have been a worthwhile shot for the mets.

    1. Mr North Jersey

Article says don’t rule out seeing Maya pitch in this 2010 season.

Nationals are doing what they can to be competitive I will give them that much.

If reports are true about Maya he should be an asset to their organization.

Strasburg, Maya, Marquis in 2011 may round out the front of the rotation.

      1. rustyjr

So let me get this straight – he stays and worksout at our complex – and then signs elsewhere ! WTF !!

      2. njstuckintx

They are definitely improving. Wonder if they’ll ship out Dunn for something decent (prospect wise)

        1. Mr North Jersey

I wonder what Dunn would be worth in a trade?

          1. stickguy

            Don’t know.

But hey NJ, do you think Pelfrey is a #2 or a #3?

          2. trs86

            I think he is mid-rotation. I can’t get too caught up in 1, 2, 3…
            I like Ace, mid-rotation and back-end.

          3. stickguy

that was a poke at NJ, and how he spent his day with his new BFF Jessep.

          4. Mr North Jersey

LoL stick, well i am glad i gave you some good reading material with me and jessep’s back n forth. LoL

I could not believe when he said what he did about Pelfrey’s early success.

          5. Mr North Jersey

lol stick you sure you are not Jessep from metsmerizedonline?

I think up until his last 4 starts Pelfrey had pitched as a legitimate #2 and at one time very early this season was pitching lights out. So much so that he was as good as anyone in baseball.

I think the Mets have been unfortunate that they failed to take advantage of so many great starts by both Pelfrey Santana and Niese. The 1 starter that they have taken advantage of his starts has been Dickey who has pitched exceptionally well also.

Yet having said all that I still feel the Mets should add another quality starter because the one thing the Mets don’t have is depth in the starting rotation.

Santana, Pelfrey, Niese, Dickey if one of those 4 go down they will be very hard to replace.

      3. trs86

If that is the front of their rotation then it will most likely still be poor ole Nats. Stras will be good (hopefully 2nd year issues though) Maya we have no clue and even still we know that he’s not the 2nd coming and Marquis I really believe is a scrub.

        1. Mr North Jersey

lol i knew a Nats remark would eventually bring you out from hiding lol.

          1. trs86

Come on though you are touting a guy you have not seen and a guy Nats fans wish they had not.

          2. Mr North Jersey

            lol sure trs.

      4. stickguy

        marquis sucks.

        what about stammen and Zimmerman?

  12. Mr North Jersey

Jerry says he’ll advocate keeping Thole.

    1. stickguy

except jerry insists on starting barajas, and just wants thole as a PH.

either play him regularly, or send him down.

but like with Mejia, jerry is not concerned with developing young guys. Just about his own arse, so anything related to next year is irrelevant to him at this point.

  13. stickguy

I am still not sure what the “braintrust” is expecting from Barajas. His career numbers sow that he is overall not very good, although he will have some spurts of power. and recent trends (not surprising for an old catcher) is that he starts out pretty good, and dies off in the 2nd half.

now, I don’t know why he is as putrid (even by his standards) since June, but while he may not stay this bad, there is no reason to keep running him out there, expecting him to rebound to productive levels.

They got their moneys worth out of him (and then some), but as usual, they are going to keep trying to milk the cow well after the teets are dry!

    1. trs86

Stick, I think there is so much more to catching than stats can even show. When they signed Barajas any offense was going to be considered a bonus and they were ok with that. Same with Blanco. I think what both of them have is a reputation of being great defensive catchers who also handle pitchers well. Perhaps the Mets believe that Thole is not ready for that or in a pennant race can’t do what the others can.

      1. stickguy

maybe I don’t watch enough, but where exactly is the great D manifesting itself? He certainly isn’t throwing anyone out, and has been behind the dish for some of the more spectacular meltdowns.

but, if he is the GG catcher, is it enough of a plus to cover a pitcher-level OPS?

  14. Mr North Jersey

Braves took a 2-1 lead on a Diaz hr so i am switching to Phils game. No score after 1.

    1. Hazmet

      What no Nats updates? :)

      1. Mr North Jersey

        Only when Strasburg pitches. ;-)

        1. Mr North Jersey

But don’t tell a certain someone ok.

That’s just between you and me. ;-)

          1. Hazmet

lol, straswho? never heard of him

fyi, they’re in a rain delay in Cincy.

  15. Mr North Jersey

    Well I do. :-)

    Love it that is. :-)
