So what happen to that Frenchy that was OK with the Mets decision to bench him in favor of Angel Pagan? Has sitting on the bench during a losing streak brought out the competitive fire? Has he seen the righting on the wall?
From Surfing the Mets:
Jeff Francoeur emphasized Thursday that he “loved†playing for the Mets, but also said that he would prefer to be traded to a team that could offer the outfielder more playing time.
“If there was an opportunity to play more somewhere else, that would be great,†Francoeur said. “I love it here, but if they decide to go in a different direction, I would be happy to play somewhere else.â€
Francoeur also went on to say: “I see the way things are going. I see that certain guys have to play. I love it here, but I love to play.â€
There are plenty of rumors suggesting a trade of Francoeur is in the works. It’s a shame that he could not continue to build on the success of his summer of 2009.

I’m reading the quote as saying if a team that needs an OFer wants him, he’ll go. Not exactly, Frenchy requesting a trade as the Daily News headline reads.

I respect his honesty.
I am hopeful that he will give the Mets his best effort in the meantime until such a trade can be facilitated.

Even though he stinks he’s the best the Mets have as a 4th outfielder. And given Beltran’s tenuous health, Pagan’s usually tenuous health and Jason Bay’s wiffle ball bat, the Mets might be better off keeping him because I doubt he fetches a whole lot in return.
I’m not too warm and fuzzy to the idea of Jose Feliciano as a potential starter once Beltran tweaks his uterus.

Fmart was doing pretty well, had a decent power surge. Now he’s in the middle of a 1/22 slump. When you only have 200 or so AB’s a 1/22 can do a lot of damage.

LOL…
I think I read those quotes from Frenchy a week or so ago when they were ready to activate Beltran. Not exactly news…
I like Franceour’s enthusiasm, but I hate his bat. From his comments about wanting more playing time….I have to wonder if he gets the reason he’s losing so much playing time now is strictly related to his offensive woes. Sounds like he thinks he’s just the odd man out for reasons other than his bat.

Hmm, I thought then he said that he just wanted to help the team. I did not think he said he just wanted to play. Perhaps I was wrong.

Its a crappy situation for frenchy. On one hand, I think he brings what Nick Swisher brought for the yankees…a personality. However his offensive streaks and lack of a big contract(im looking at you jason bay) has left him as the odd man out. I wish him the best if omar does pull the trigger on a trade as I like him as a person but a player wants to play and I dont see him getting that shot here.

July struggles aside, I don’t think there is much of a choice between Francoeur and Bay. Frenchy is the odd man out regardless.
