Would you prefer this Lineup?
Is this lineup better than the current lineup?
- Reyes – S/.279./.320/.417
- Beltran – S/.295/.382/.508 (ZiPS RoS)
- Pagan – S/.306/.362/.466
- Wright – R/.308/.383/.524
- Davis – L/.258/.330/.448
- Bay – R/.261/.352/.410
- Castillo – S/.243/.345/.277
- Barajas or Thole – R/.227/.264/.412 or L/.285/.349/.380 (ZiPS RoS)

Or This Lineup?
Mike Sielski may be on to something. Reyes is best leading off. Beltran’s high OBP is ideal for hitting behind Reyes.  Pagan has been Mr. Clutch this year (not to be confused with Mr. Man-Up). Wright is one of the league leaders in RBIs. Davis splits up the righties and is on pace for 24 moon-smackers. Bay is a better hitter than Castillo or any of the catchers (Plus, don’t you think his pulling power is conducive to Citi Field?) Castillo gets on base (with caution).  Thole’s been hitting better but Barajas calls a better game. What do you think?

Nice post Case.
Thanks for the Bikini babes pic.
The lineup change would be interesting indeed.

BTW, I REALLY laughed out loud at your comment about the reason Jerry still had a job yesterday.
That was good, even by your lofty standards.

Thanks. Sometimes things just jump at me, other times it’s crickets. Seriously, though, can I get a cut of the action?

“The lineup change would be interesting indeed.”
You mean like the blonde on the far left switching places with the brunette on the far right? Something like that?

tough choice. I think the fourth from the left is more of a sure thing, though the brunette on the far right has more upside.

I would have to agree with this assessment.
And yes, you can have 10% of my fee when Jerry finalizes his next contract.
However, his pay as butler/bartender on the Parade Float MIGHT be a shade lower than his current salary bracket.

sweet, Jerry Manuel for NL Manager of the Year. I’m thinking a 17 year contract.

Intriguing but I don’t move Wright from the #3 spot. He’s comfortable there and is clearly our best hitter. Pagan is for sure our hottest hitter.
Why do you need a conventional HR hitter in the 4 spot anyway?
Reyes, Beltran, Wright, Pagan….?

actually Dave has been pretty bad since the all-star break. a little early but he could be falling into a slump
maybe change is best?

Off Topic
I sure hope the no Grave sightings is due to him just waiting for the insanity on the blog to die down from the last 2 days.
It is not the same without Grave’s commentary.
Hope all is well wherever you are Grave.

I think he said he has family in town and will be back for the postgame tonight….I hope.
Last night would have been more tolerable with a bit of Grave’s patented post-nightmare-loss humor.

Thanks for your concern Mr. NJ. Knogminn is correct, my aunt & uncle passed through town and we enjoyed a huge Mexican feast and far too much Patron. I was rather pleasantly drunk and full for most of yesterday but am now back at it. I see I didn’t miss anything good regarding the Mets.

I got it!…Lets bat castillo lead-off so he can get more ABs AND reyes
3rd so that he can drive in more runs
Yeah…Thats it!…That will work!
Seriously though, no line-up change will mean a thing if Reyes, Wright
and especially Bay aren’t hitting!

What do you guys think a combo of
Brett Myers and Octavio Dotel from
Houston and Pittsburgh would cost???

7/22/2010-1:29pm at 1:29 pm (UTC -4)
A “B” level prospect for each. Now, who would we classify as a B level prospect. Is Tejada an “A” Level? Would you trade tejada straight up for Myers?

7/22/2010-1:40pm at 1:40 pm (UTC -4)
of course you trade Tejada for Myers in a blink of an eye…

7/22/2010-1:41pm at 1:41 pm (UTC -4)
I’d think they’d take that, honestly. Maybe Tejada + Evans or something like that.

7/22/2010-2:12pm at 2:12 pm (UTC -4)
exactly but who knows what the Astros want or what Omar’s thinking is. He might think Tejada is our starting 2B next season…

7/22/2010-2:18pm at 2:18 pm (UTC -4)
I trade tejada for myers. Tejada is a nice little prospect, but nothing special enough that he is not easily replaceable, expecially for th enext couple of years.

Tejada is a best a B prospect. At best.
Myers’s value is inflated because of his reasonable deal for next year. Dotel, not sure if he is type A or B or not.

Unless Bay, Reyes and Beltran hit to their capabilties (or what we think their capabilities are) it doesn’t much matter which order they hit.

interestingly, last night the yin and yang of the mets interest (per the dueling media reports) faced off.
myers vs. lilly. Both went a very solid 7 innings (1 run, 6-8 Ks and 1 walk each).
grab myers if they can get him reasonably cheap. He also has a reasonable (8mill) option for 2011, so you potentially could have a full line rotation, with no weak link (trash/retread/wing and prayer) guy in it.
then omar can just worry about (well, if he survives!) finding the correct RF optin, and ding something with 2B. Plus of course the usual pen and bench shuffling.
njstuckintx
7/22/2010-2:26pm at 2:26 pm (UTC -4)
And he’s always a BP back up if necessary. I like myers for that fact. He can be a #4 in the rotation and once the playoffs hit (next year, people. i’m realistic here) he can slide into the BP as the team goes into a 3 man rotation.

don’t give up on this year. only 3.5 out of the WC, and the teams ahead of them are not exactly fantastic. and this mets team is know for wild mood swings, so they can go from ice cold to red hot in a couple games. I hope.

http://www.amazinavenue.com/2010/7/22/1581310/driving-runners-in-by-percentage
very interesting read…what it is basically saying is that Bay is driving in runs at the same rate he always has however the reason his RBI totals are so low is b/c he doesn’t drive himself in b/c of his low HR totals.
basically if Bay were hitting 25+ HR he would have 100 RBI

7/22/2010-3:34pm at 3:34 pm (UTC -4)
Twist the numbers an way you want, he’s being payed to produce runs which he hasn’t done much of this year. If HR are down, he needs to raise his batting average and the numbers on that web page to compensate.

The Mets should sign a Eddie Gaedel clone. He weighed 65 pounds (29.5 kg), and stood 3 feet 7 inches (1.09 m) tall. Of course with HoJo as the hitting coach he would swing and miss at three pitches rolled to the plate. LOL
