Over/under on how many times we hear mentioned the Beltran/Wainwright Game 7 matchup tonight?

    1. ceetar

Not much after Beltran takes him deep for a grand slam I’d suspect.

      1. metsfan4decades

        Woo-Hoo!

      2. whataputz

I’d be willing to bet a heavy sum of money, at unfavorable odds that this will not happen…care for some action?

        1. ceetar

What if I clarify that it’ll be off a curveball?

  2. Mr North Jersey

I wonder if this will be the main lineup with the exception of Bay for Frenchy for the next 6 days?

    1. stickguy

probably. With pagan supposedly (have to put a disclaimer in there with Jerry making the lineup card out) that starter, there really isn’t much else to do.

Maybe that is why Thole is in the 8 hole, for the games when Blanco hits?

Because of course, if you move a guy 1-2 spots in the lineup, it will disrupt there rythm!

  3. stickguy

I was expecting Wright to get a day off, but hard to argue with Bay. Hell, sit them both.

I don’t understand Thole in the 8 hole, with Frenchy hitting before him. Frenchy at all is hard enough to understand. i just consider him to be 3-4 automatic outs vs. wainrgith (depending on how deep he goes into the game!)

NOthing like reliving the good old days, is there?

I still do not like Wright hitting in th e4 hole. Just never seems to work, but hey, I am not the manager! ANd neither one of us it seems bothers to look up stats before making decisions.

and man, Luis is like the milk in the fridge that is past the expriatin date, and needs to get washed down the drain. I do not like him at all, he looks like crap lately, and (unlike Beltran) I really don’t think he is ever going to rebound to anything vaguely resembling worthwhile.

Damn Havens. If they just had (or could get) a decent 2B that can actually hit even a little, I sould live with slappy on the bench (if they won’t cut his sorry arse).

Man, I wish they could find some kind of deal to fluch ollie and slappy out of the system now. I really do expect both of them to be gone in the off season.

I honest to goodness don’t think I cold watch a game next year if they are trotting Slappy out to 2B again. Too bad they didn’t just go with the 3/22 contrat instead of the 4/24!

  5. stickguy

anyway, best news of the day I guess is that Dickey seems fine. Always a bad day when your dickey is sore.

and since the mets never have any wins or walk offs, they don’t have guys getting hurt (I am sure it would be a strained oblique) jumping on home plate, or getting it with a pie.

We are, however, about due for someone to kick a chair or put their hand through a window.

The last time the Mets faced Wainwright was back on April 18th at St Louis.
The Mets were shutout and had a total of 4 hits.
Half of those hits belonged to Frank Catalanotto & Gary Matthews Jr
The other half went to Angel Pagan.
They had 2 walks in that game.
    1 went to Frank Catalanotto
The other 1 went to Francoeur.

    Here was the lineup

    New York Mets
    1 Jose Reyes SS
    2 Alex Cora 2B
    3 David Wright 3B
    4 Frank Catalanotto 1B
    5 Jeff Francoeur RF
    6 Gary Matthews CF
    7 Rod Barajas C
    8 Angel Pagan LF
    9 John Maine P

      Do my fellow Met fanaticos
realize that we’re in the last
      few days of July,two-thirds of
the way through the season and
we haven’t won a road series yet???…Pretty sad for what
was a contender for the first three moths of the season!

      1. Mr North Jersey

        Road series are over-rated. ;-)

      2. fongy2

        Should have read…
        Against a N.L. team.

    2. fongy2

      Frankie the Cat, Frenchy &
      Matthews Juicer, Hitting 4,5,6
at ANY TIME says all ANYONE needs to know about Jerry Manuel!!!….

      1. Mr North Jersey

LoL yup, I agree. Wright, Beltran, Davis has a much better ring if you ask me.

        1. fongy2

          I mean really!
          Was Jerry friggin’drunk&
high when he came up with
          THAT line-up??
You could get ANY six y/o kid
          new Met fan who
          would have come up with
          a better one!

  7. fongy2

What good does it do to have Bay sitting tonight?…Why is Thole not
in the two-hole???…Why do I even care about this season anymore????
It’s becoming more and more obvious
that neither the FO or Mgr do!!!…
Heres hoping the 2011 season starts
with some one like John Hart as our
GM and Buck Showalter as our Mgr…
What a friggin’ disapointment the past few weeks!…Not unexpected that
Omar wouldn’t at least TRY and bring in some extra help on the Bench and
    Bullpen around the Allstar break!!!
Not understanding that the first three months great play was about as
much as you could expect to get out of the likes of Barajas,Blanco,Takahashi,Dickey,Cora,
Pelfrey,Pagan,et,al…Plus,HOW could you count on Anything from Beltran,
    Ollie,Maine&Castillo???…
    Damn shame!!!…As again, theres no
dominant team in the N.L. and the
door to the Playoffs WAS wide open.
…..This has been some past four
    seasons now!!!…..
    Oh, the pain!!!!!

  8. Mr North Jersey

Yea all they have is that Pujols guy. We are more well rounded. :-D

    Team Leaders

    Cardinals Mets
    AVG M. Holliday .305 A. Pagan .304
    HR A. Pujols 23 D. Wright 15
    RBI A. Pujols 70 D. Wright 68
    RUN A. Pujols 61 J. Reyes 54
    SB A. Pujols 11 A. Pagan 22
    WIN A. Wainwright 14 M. Pelfrey 10
    SV R. Franklin 18 F. Rodriguez 21
    ERA A. Wainwright 1.94 J. Santana 2.79
  9. fongy2

Here’s hoping that if we don’t put
together a winning streak over the
next two/three weeks, we go the other way and just con’t to bottom out so that come September maybe,
just maybe the Wilpon’s will have had enough and with the Minor’s season’s over, Omar & Jerry are
let go AND we’ll have plenty of
guys to choose from to bring in on a
temp basis to finish the season
along with the room on the roster
to bring up many of the young prospects!

  10. GravediggerHebner

That explains Francoeur’s presence in the lineup (and basically eliminates his being traded).

Bay has a concussion from his fence face plant. Awesome.

    1. fongy2

      Thank You! That’splains that!
      Frenchy wasn’t gonna be traded
anyway! Has no value to anyone
      else!

  11. metsfan4decades

WFAN reporting Jason Bay has been diagnosed with a mild concussion – suffered from that catch he made over the weekend in LA.

  12. metsfan4decades

LOL —- Jerry is suspended for tonight’s game due to ‘bumping’ an ump in LA.

    1. tkfj2

Book it people, we are winning tonight.

No Jerry, now we can get used to what next year will look like.

    2. fongy2

      Who takes over? Jauss?….
And any chance Jauss could make Jerry Wally Pipp in a day?? :)
