A-Rod’s 600th Homerun Baseball-write the word “Cheater” on it.

This is Mets blog but I just can’t keep this in anymore.

I know that I may be a little on edge knowing that the Mets won’t make a trade but I’m asking too much when I say that I hope that whoever catches A-Rod 600th home run ball writes the word CHEATER on it and throws it back onto the field?

You think I’m out of line here?

Not really but I doubt whoever catches it wont do it…worth some $$$.

However, the fact that nobody really cares about arod hitting 600 is indication enough that people see him as a cheater

The thought I had was to cut the ball into a section of perceived tainted homeruns. Say saw off like 15-20% of the ball and write something like 475 on the remaining large section and hand it over to A-Roid.

This whole ARod #600 hundred saga is just another example of the hypocrisy of ESPN.

I’m a huge fan of the Tour de France. Yeah I’m the guy. I watch as much of it as I can every summer. A few years ago a guy won the tour then was disqualified for “blood doping.” I may not be describing this accurately bu he essentially had his blood removed, infused with oxygen, then returned to his body.

He has since been tested and shown to be clean and was readmitted to the Tour. He won a stage and the ESPN headline was “Former doper Alexander Vinokourov wins tour stage.”

When ARod hits his 600th home run what are the chances that ESPN’s headline will be “Former doper Alex Rodriguez hits 600th home run?” Yet all Vinokourov did was oxygenate his blood. ARod used drugs but won’t be stigmatized by ESPN who cuts into every program they’re showing for each of his at bats.

I hope he does hit 600 home runs. But I hope it takes him 600 games to get to it and I hope that everyone includes “former doper” in their headlines about it.

This was really bothering you there Gonzo? ;-)

Yea he’s a steriod user and deserves no credit at all….like Clemens.

      1. Mr North Jersey

        Stating the obvious.
The fact that it bothers you is what interests me.

        1. gonzowill

I’m surrounded by Yankee fans who love him. I just wanted to see if I’m the only person our there who believes he’s a cheater

          1. gonzowill

I’m sure the writers will screw him just like they would to Clemens. This all stems from the Clemens/Piazza circus. Clemens was using and I believe that if he was “normal” the Mets would have won the WS back in 2000. The Yankees might not have even made it that far without him. When it comes down to it. I just don’t think anyone, be it the news, the papers or any blogs should really pat A-Rod on the back for the “accomplishment”. It is as hollow as A-Rod’s persona.

It’s not that I have a problem with him being a cheater – heck, we know more were doing it than not doing it back then. Steve Phillips himself admitted the other day on WFAN when he was GM he knew over 80% of the starting 25 were doing it.

It’s the fact that he went on national TV – 60 minutes in 2003? 2004? and said in no uncertain terms he’s never done steroids. Of course, that was a big fat lie. Why even do that interview? Why even commit one way or another? For ARod it’s all about ARod and only about ARod. Then he and/or the NY Yankees hire an entire PR team to turn his image around after his name was released as a result of the ‘list’.

    Fake, phony.

hey sir how did you like my mini rant / trying to be rational column today?

        1. gonzowill

Rusty, you always hit the nail on the head, so to speak, everytime

        2. Kingman 26

          I liked it sir!

I largely agree; despite the disappointment, I also think this is like 1984, and keeping Ike/Niese/Thole/Mejia etc. might make us very, very happy in the next few years.

Cashen didn’t trade Mookie, Wally, Darryl, Doc, etc, and at least kept Dykstra, McDowell, Mitchell, etc long enough to win a title.

But I do think we have no playoff hope; but I agree this is a slightly better than .500 team.

I also think the Wilpons clearly have drawn a line on spending.

The above posts are the very reason
that this is the only blog I frequent.
Heb, is especial;ly on the mark with
this…And add the MLBnetwork to that
post. I’ve thought they’ve done a pretty good overall job as a network
since their start BUT this ARod stuff is enough to make an old timer sick.
    ARod is a Phoney,fraud and a fake…
600HRs my arse!…w/o PEDs back to
a more realistic 18 this yr.
I just hope the HOF voters stick to their guns 5,10,20 yrs down the road
    and keep this guy,McGwire,Clemens etc
out!….If not, They must put guys like Rose, Dale Murphy & Jack Morris
    in!

    1. Kingman 26

      Who’s next?

Pujols as DH, Cliff Lee, and the corpse of Honus Wagner to replace Jeter.

      1. GravediggerHebner
