So this could be it, the Mets start their road trip tonight and must face both the Braves and Phillies in the next 6 games. This could be the season right here. IT might be the start of an unbelievable streak that leads the Mets right to the playoffs; Then again, it might be the beginning of the End where we see tumbleweeds blow across the Citi Field Ghost Town  in September.
Time to put your make-pretend money to your mouth and make a bet.
How will the Mets fare in the next 6 road games?

I said in the beginning of this year I was making no predictions as the team had too many question marks – starting with SP.
As this team has been anything but predictable so far this year – very, very streaky…I’ll pass on making any predictions this week.
Let me just say that it would surprise me to sweep the Braves and Nats only to lose both series to Houston and the Pirates…..

3-3 (2-1 in ATL, 1-2 in PHI). Still not enough to get back in race.

All go out on a limb and say 4 wins 2 loses. However, just when we get all excited, the Mets will drop the next 3 out of 4 games and put us right back were we started.

Bright side – no more games with AZ on the schedule.
Dark side – 6 games with WAS on the schedule.

And don’t forget the games with the Marlins, another team the Mets struggle with….

It’s a crap shoot. Anything can happen.
If I had to think of which result was most probable? probably 3-3, which is probably what the Braves and Phillies do over the same stretch, which answers no questions regarding the playoffs after this week.
Now, what will they actually do? They’ll go 6-0. They’re long overdue for a hot streak. Santana already had his one bad outing of the second half. Pelfrey’s going to have a rebound game, as is Niese. Dickey is awesome. They’ve done well at times when we don’t expect them to. They’ll exorcise some old Turner Field demons for the fun of it. They’ll treat the launching pad of Philadelphia like they used to, blasting home runs left and right and shutting down the Phillies offense, if not as succinctly as last time at Citi.

Perhaps your prediction will come true in a parallel universe.

5-1, sweep the Phils and take 2 from the Braves. Everyone will feel confident again, the team will go on an incredible stretch, but blow a 1.5 game lead in the division and a 4 game lead in the wild card over the last week and a half of the season.
