BREAKING: Fmart going to the Mets…Mets Twittergate continues

If you didnt catch it yet, after the Mets disgusting loss to the Phillies yesterday, there was a massive twitter explosion regarding Fernando Martinez and Ruben Tejada being held from last nights game. Speculation was ramped (and still is) about what Omar is up to…tune into the Mets Twitter Gate for more..

According to a Tweet from Adam Rubin, Fernando Martinez is getting the call up. No word on the corresponding move yet.

UPDATE

According to a Tweet from Enrique Rojas/ESPN, Fmart AND Tejada both joining the Mets in Philly…again no word on a corresponding move yet.

According to a Tweet from Jon Heyman, he sees this as just the Mets “shaking things up” but NO trade is imminent. To which I replied

@SI_JonHeyman they can start by releasing oliver perez, luis castillo, alex cora and jeff for fmart,turner,tejada,misch…thats a shake up

AdamRubinESPN Ruben Tejada tells Enrique Rojas in Spanish: “I’m happy about returning.”

Regarding any rumors of Chone Figgins coming to the Mets – ProspectInsider:  Sources say there is no trade of Mets prospects to Seattle. Neither F-Mart or Tejada were placed on waivers.

    My guesses are 1. DFA Francouer, 2. Bye Bye Carter or 3. down goes Feliciano.

      Carter and Feliciano have both been very good off the bench so far so sending them down makes no sense, nor would it make sense to bring F-Mart up now as a back-up.

      Frenchy is gotta be on the move…

        You included “sense” and the Mets Front office in the same sentence. Silly you.

          hahahha very good point…it may be the story of too little too late at this point. This should have been done after the homestand

          1. dirtysanchez

            not homestand..road trip.

    Just got online and read through so many hours of tweets I may have them mixed up but what I gathered was:

    Francoeur has already cleared waivers;

    Castillo clears on Monday;

    neither is likely to be traded or released now;

    Cora rumor to Boston has lukewarm momentum;

    FMart & Tejada can NOT be traded as they have not been waived let alone cleared waivers;

    so what I take from all that is FMart coming up is likely just a rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic and he’d probably replace Jesus or Carter (my wild guess would be Jesus as Carter’s “skillset” is less similar to FMarts than Jesus’s is) and Tejada might be to take the place of Cora going to Boston.

    Phew. Now I can go back to sleep.

      Does Boston need Cora, or is that just added depth and grit to their team?

      1. dirtysanchez

        idk…they could use beltran ;p

    2. oleosmirf

      why would they send down Carter and callup F-Mart unless F-Mart was going to play everyday???? Why would he split time with Frenchy when he could play everyday in AAA.

      1. dirtysanchez

        Logic and Mets front office do not normally coincide with each other…we will just have to wait to see what they do

        1. GravediggerHebner

          Exactly. I think we’ve all learned by now that there are always at least two scenarios: the one that seems most logical; and the one the Mets are going to do.

          1. oleosmirf

            so basically, Tejada and F-Mart are going up and Raul Valdes and Mike Hessman are going down

          2. GravediggerHebner

            That’s as Met-logical as anything else.

  4. oleosmirf

    I don’t see them DFA Frenchy, I do see them trading him to a team like the Royals, Pirates or Athletics for a PTBNL…

    something like Frenchy for Ellis or Frenchy for Aviles

  5. GravediggerHebner

    For the sake of discussion say Heyman is correct and all it is is a shakeup. FMart is easy to envision slipping onto the roster in place of multiple people. Tejada less so. Maybe they’ve wised up and are going to cut Cora before the vesting option kicks in and are just trying to trade him to Boston before doing that?

    I don’t know anything except that I need more coffee.

    1. oleosmirf

      Cora for Lowrie!!!!

  6. rustyjr

    i bet it’s feliciano or carter goes down and raul valdes is dfa’d

  7. Kingman 26

    Excellent moves.

    Carter sucks and there is precisely zero chance he is on the team next year.

    And get rid of Cora so he does not have to be paid next year.

    Easy as pie.

    1. oleosmirf

      Carter might suck in the field but his numbers as a PH are pretty good…unfortunately for him, Murphy should take that role next season…

      1. njstuckintx

        Murphy for starting second baseman! I jest, sort of.

        1. oleosmirf

          i think we will see Murphy and Nick the Stick replacing Carter and Hessman next season.

          Im very curious to see what they do with 2B next season although all indication seems like Castillo/Tejada will have the job until Havens or Satin can take over.

    In the context of any Cora-to-Boston talk I’ve been listening to Boston sports talk this morning and they have made zero mention of anything. Closest they’ve come was a brief discussion about bringing back Julio Lugo.

    1. dirtysanchez

      why would anyone take cora at this point is beyond me. I guess thats an out of the box though by lennon yesterday.

      1. GravediggerHebner

        I think if anyone would it would be Boston. They’ve had some infield injury problems and they know and like Cora. Francona raves about Cora.
