The Sunday Question

I’m not saying that the Mets are completely out of it, but lets ask a question that regards their record.

Even after this disastrous July and August, can the Mets at least be a .500 team?

The answer is yes – I believe the Mets will end the season with 85 wins – they are going to start to play the dregs of the n.l central and west about 15 times and they wont lose all the rest of their games to better teams so i think slightly above .500 is doable

I thought they usually beat the good teams and flub it up against the scrubs? i hope they don’t when they are in Houston. I’m hitting up at least 2 of 4 games. Houston trades away Oswalt and Berkman and they start playing like champs. Baseball is a funny game.

30-22 the rest of the way for the Mets?

That would be one heck of a run.

Considering they can’t win 2 in a row let alone 3,4 or 5 I don’t believe they can do it.

Right now i’d be happy if they can even go 26-26.

I wonder if they can win 71 games?

I will watch to see by how much.

I think thats just what they are….a .500 team as they are currently playing. Its just thats not good enough to make it to the post season. Now if people start playing up to their potential, that will change

Sure, they’re a .500 team. Win one, lose one. Win one, lose one. Win one, lose one…..

They can still be better. Adam Rubin continues his twitter spaminess. Well gee Adam, thanks for telling us what RF and LF mean in the lineup you just tweeted..

In hindsight what I perceived as a mistake apparently is not in retrospect.

For that I apologize but still at 1st glance that is what it looked like the followup tweet was intended for.

    Yes.

    Absolutely.

In March I predicted 83-79, behind the Phils and Braves, and I still believe that’s about right.

However, I could see the youngsters pushing them to 85-87 wins once we are mathematically eliminated.
