The Wilpons are thumbing their cheap noses at the fans with their inaction on firing Manuel or HoJo, probably because they don’t want to pay two people for one job (despite the fact other teams do this routinely). Not only is Jerry losing games, but he’s now hurting development of young players by benching them. Ike Davis is the future at first, you can’t sit him against every lefty, especially for a career minor-leaguer in Hessman (who I like as a bench bat for his power but not as a starter). I know Tejada and F-Mart have struggled since their call-ups, but I’d like to see them play more to see what we have. Jerry obviously never looks at stats at all, as he’d see Ike has handled lefties pretty well this year (.273 vs.239 vs. righties). But we knew that, since he also routinely went to Valdes to pitch against lefties when his numbers against them sucked. Also didn’t realize last night was a decent night to trot Francoeur out there against a righty since he was 9-for-20 against Kendrick, including a homer earlier this year against him. Jerry just goes by his gut and figures if a lefty is starting, gotta throw all righties out there, numbers be damned. God I hate this guy as a manager and HoJo is absolutely worthless as a hitting coach. Guess the Wilpons really want no one to show up or tune into the games the rest of the way…..

It is getting VERY hard to believe that the Wilpons are both in touch and care.
It seems clear to me that either Fred is WAY too busy and preoccupied with other matters and/or he just really does not care all that much as long as the team is in the black.
If he bled orange and blue–which he most certainly does not–Citi would have opened on day one as a shrine to Met history.
It is time to come to terms with this.

You know what’s really wrong with this lineup? No Ike…
Jerry INSISTED there was no 1st base platoon. Why does he keep making these statements when he doesn’t really mean them?
I think you need to play Ike. The more pitching he sees up here, hopefully the sooner he makes the adjustments. Then again, with HoJo still here that ‘sooner’ might be ‘later’….

There is very, very little that can infuriate me enough that I start to lose interest, but Francoeur/Blanco/Hessman is about it.
This is revolting, and I for one am frigin sick of it.
Can I boycott and not watch? Probably not.
But playing a nonproductive stiff like Frenchy because he whined to Jerry, and a zero mediocre minor leaguer like Hessman over our top position prospect and playing a fine backup over 2011 starter Thole is inexcusable.
This simply sucks, and maybe Jerry really IS trying to get fired.
