Harvey Signs At The Stroke Of Midnight

Jon Heyman is tweeting the Mets signed Matt Harvey for a bit over $2.5M.

Good Job by the Mets getting it done.

For a recap on Harvey check out Rubin’s post:

Nice job keeping his salary down. He wanted 4.5M. They most likely did go slightly over slot. There will be some though that will use this against them and say they did not go over slot but ….. I guess they should have paid him more for no reason.

hey the Mets did something right this season after all.

I am amazed though that they got him for 2.5 when he wanted 4.5. I know getting and wanting are different things but… I guess he did not have many options either.

well the chances of Harvey being a top 7 or better pick next season are fairly low. too little to gain by going back to UNC next year…

good work by the Mets though

    Good job Mets.

They also got their 6th rounder signed shortly before the deadline.

Dang…I gave up right at midnight thinking either I’d read about the signing in the AM or it would be just one more story today in Met land on how they couldn’t get it done.

Good job. Here’s hoping he pans out and we see him soon.

He could be the next seaver. He could never be seen again.

But thank God we will be spared the “mets are too cheap to sign their draft pick” stories!

Hopefully th enatural talent, and some good coaching, gets him over the hump and polished up into a real good pitcher. Big horse of a guy, so if he shows the goods, could arrive fast (just needs the “stuff” work, not physical maturing like Mejia or Familia).

maybe he can pull a Vaughn (corey, not Mo) and have a hot start, making the pundits look slightly less intelligent!

most importantly, the Mets only failed to sign 2 players in the top 30 rounds, 21st rounder, Dabias Johnson and 23rd rounder Drew Martinez.

also many of these picks are already having impressive debuts; Cory Vaughn, Ryan Frasor, Matt Den Dekker, Adam Kolarek, Akeel Morris, Brian Harrison, Lucas Stewart, Josh Edgin, Justin Schafer
