Ike and Tejada both struggling with the bat up here. And both have seen their playing time cut because of it.
I’m not convinced Ruben will ever hit enough to be an everyday second baseman up here but what better time to find out if not now? We’re out of this race, there was 2 months left….now 6 weeks left.

Then again….it’s HoJo trying to work with them and who knows if that will do much good?

I think it’s very important for Ike to struggle and hit his way through it. For Tejada, I guess it’s up to the Mets to determine if he is Luis Castillo’s replacement or Alex Cora’s replacement.

but the Mets are in a heated a playoff race so they need to play Castillo and Hessman as they give us the best chance of overcoming this 10 game deficit.

i mean i wanted the kids to play but i was told that the Mets have to play the best possible 8 guys to win on each specific day and that playing for the future is just plain dumb…

          I sense…. Sarcasm?

whats the possability that duda is at second next season?

          2. oleosmirf

            same chance as Jeff Francouer

dudas a second baseman or am i thinking of havens ? damn pain meds !

          4. TRS86

            Yeah it’s Havens. Meds rough.

I believe you are thinking of Havens. And last I heard, he was shut down for the season b/c of an oblique injury. I’m thinking he will not be the Mets opening day 2nd baseman in 2011.

            Duda is an OF.

Francouers arm would translate better to shortstop, no?

anywho, enough of my bad attempts at humor. Well, maybe you all will consider this to be humor, but I hope Murph gets every shot to be the 2B next year. Will he? I doubt it. Do I hope so? Absolutely. I don’t write this as a “murph-apologist”, but more for the fact the dude hits. And hits well. If we can get passable D from him, I’d have mr. uggla lite as our 2B for sure.

brandon phillips might be a f.a after the season ends – but we are forgetting it is unlikely the mets will spend big this offseason

Can you imaging the Phillips/Rollins verbal wars? Easy E and Ice Cube would look like kids play. Or Kid’N'Play, if you will.

I am with you totally Oleo.

Hessman starting even one game is a disgrace and points out all that is currently wrong with this rudderless organization.

The guy is mediocre in AAA.

        3. metsfan4decades

Wait, we’re in a pennant race? How did I miss that?

          LOL…

    He makes some good points.

There is zero reason whatsoever for Ike, Thole, Tejada, or FMart to be sitting in the bigs.

They should be playing every day, and in the cases of Tejada and FMart, every day in Buffalo if not in Queens.

The leadership vacuum widens from a chasm to a frigin canyon as we watch another season slip into the stratosphere of extreme embarrassment…..
