Jack 1 triple, enjoy an extended stay in the lineup.
I sure hope that once the waiver wire is done and if Frenchy isn’t moved, his playing time drops off the face of the earth, as nothing good nor productive can come from him in the lineup with kids sitting on the bench.

how about moving David to 5th, Ike to 4th and Pagan to 3rd like we had in June when we were winning.

Does it really matter?
Also, I don’t mind Pagan getting a break.

As usual on paper lineups look better than they perceive to be.

I don’t care that much at this point who bats where, it just infuriates me that Frenchy and Hessman keep getting starts.

I guess if I was a Phillie fan I should be concerned down the road if and when this hurts them.
As a Mets fan This doesn’t do much for me with the Phillies in the division race and currently holding the wild card lead by a half game.

I think that in the longrun it is relevant as they have severely boxed themselves into a 2 year window, IMO.

And how many years have you been saying this?

8/17/2010-4:26pm at 4:26 pm (UTC -4)
uh this year?
I felt in the past that moves like Ibanez were bad. But this past offseason with the trading of the farm for Lee, letting him walk, spending big on guys like Placebo, multi year for Schneider… they are clearly in win now hell with the consequences mode.
I still love how you run to their defense anytime someone even mentions their name. All I did was put up a link.

I don’t run to their defense, but it is funny how you—and ONLY you—say that again and again and again and again. I respect how they do things and I do not hate them; you just plain hate them for being better than us with less resources….and I will always prefer them to the Yanks (I rooted like hell for the Rays in the 2008 series and will again this year once the Rays beat the Yanks).
I just respect the way they do things and wish the Mets were more like them over the last few years. Brought in Lee, Halladay, and Oswalt. That’s unreal. I would have been happy with even one of them.
Hopefully in 2-3 years we will once again be able to win more games than them over the course of a year.

Fixed that for you. Wanted to make sure you knew where I was coming from.
Kingman, how many times have I mentioned the Phillies on here in a negative light? How many times have you came to their defense?
I am confused. It’s OK to hate the Phillies and hope they suck. Right?

What the future holds remains to be seen. You may be right but I have a hard time worrying about how severely boxed in they may be.
I will happily await for that day to come asap but for now I am more concerned with my team.

Well of course I am more concerned with my team. However, if Philly fails I will also be happy. I can be happy about more than one thing? Right?

I am sorry if you took my comment as suggesting you should not enjoy the Phillies failures past, present or future.
I just don’t see myself being concerned for something that may never happen when I have problems right now that are happening with my current team.

There’s only so much time you can spend worrying over your own team, right? I do have time to worry about the Mets and hate the Phillies?

Yes you may TRS. I am speaking of myself. I believe I have now said it twice.

Welcome TK.
As for Frenchy not getting starts. I tend to agree unless there is a chance in hell they can get him off the team before the waiver. I guess he would have started regardless tonight with Pagan resting.

as long as the phillies keep going deep into the playoffs, i dont think their fans or anyone else cares…
plus once the Nationals get all those prospects up here, the Nats will the best team in the division, so the Phillies are going for it all in their small window of oppurtunity, something the Mets failed to do in 2007 and 2008.

I did not even say what they were doing is wrong. Just saying that it’s risky if they don’t win another WS in the next 2 years.
Mr North Jersey
8/17/2010-4:35pm at 4:35 pm (UTC -4)
Considering that while under Minaya we haven’t been to one W.S. and have made the playoffs just once and the Phillies have made the playoffs for 3 years in a row making 2 W.S. appearances and winning one of them while on the verge of making the playoffs for a 4th year in a row while enduring injuries to many of their star players for different periods throughout this season.
Add that they added not only Halladay but Oswalt to the rotation. I think their risks are so far paying off and if they make another W.S. in the next 2 years giving them 3 appearances in the last 6 years I would think it was a worthwhile risk.
TRS86
8/17/2010-4:58pm at 4:58 pm (UTC -4)
Not sure what the Mets have to do with that? I am strictly saying that the Phillies are in win now mode and have placed a 2 year window on that. In my opinion considering their roster that is risky. Not saying I would not do it. You don’t think they could have done without signing Ibanez to a ridiculous deal or way outbidding everyone else for Placebo?
Mr North Jersey
8/17/2010-5:11pm at 5:11 pm (UTC -4)
I am merely saying that the Phillies risks seem to have paid off so far when you see what they have accomplished in the span that Minaya has been GM.
Again you may be right that they have a 2 year window. I personally don’t know enough what awaits 2 years down the road to say that the Phillies only have a 2 year window.
If they could have done it without signing players to a ridiculous deal or not I cant say. I can only say that it has yet to hurt them.

8/17/2010-5:42pm at 5:42 pm (UTC -4)
what i am saying is the Mets should have been in a win now mode in 2007 and 2008, yet in 2007 + 2008 Omar Minaya sat on his hands and did not make a big move.
obviously noone had the foresight to see that collapse but they should have made a move to fortify themselves for the playoffs such as renting a SP instead of relying on Pedro to get back in time.

Francoeur has the worst at bats of any major leaguer right now. Last night he swung at a 1-1 pitch in the dirt and six inches outside.

Blasphemy. Failcouers grissiony figure lured the ball to the backstop in the 9th inning that scored the game winning run, and then he hit a triple. The man just does not cease to amaze. His combonation of grit and heart make him a world class player.
Who needs a good OBP, SLG, or OPS? Frenchy doesnt.
