If the mets somehow goe 2-5 vs. the pirates and Stros, there is no way Jerry can’t be shown the door. I think they’ll end up 4-3, but if ever there was a time to hope for a 2-5…

I wish you were right but at this point I am not sure it will happen.

I wish I was right as well, but if they pull something like 2-5 vs. these two lowly organizations… uff da, talk about a debacle. And if they do it while playing Hessman and Frenchy, Kah-nog is going to start taking names and dispensing some beatdowns.

According to the nifty little twitter widget to my left… Rubin is saying exactly what I was thinking with this entire Krod drama. Mets trying to get 3M back for this year and ability to not have to worry about the option.
” I’m told if the Mets’ conversion to a nonguaranteed deal stands — and that’s a huge ‘if’ — they could merely cut him a check …for 30 days’ pay in spring training 2012 rather than have to pay full $17.5 million vesting option if it kicked in.”

:-) It’s good to see that Rubin’s opinions are the same as a regular Mets fans opinion. I once heard someone say the media can’t be believed at what they say.

      - LoL

Still don’t trust them. All I said is he is saying what I am saying.

          Would you trust me? ;)

            Nope.

based off OPS, the NY Mets only have 4 above average hitters on the team (ignoring positional scarcity). Those 4 being Wright, Pagan, Thole and Bay.

in comparison the Phillies have 8 (all starters except Rollins but including Gload) and the Braves have 9 (including Chipper would have made 10)
The Giants have 7, Reds have 10, Rockies have 8, Cardinals had 7 (now 5), even the Padres now have 5.

while many of these players are one year wonders, its pretty clear why the Mets are where they are in the standings, and its not bad pitching, injuries or bad luck.

hopefully these problems are addressed next season and not rely on operation hope and pray.

So are you in turn going to get rid of Reyes and Beltran?

      1. oleosmirf

it all depends on who they can replace them with. I find it hard to believe they could trade Reyes and get real value in return plus we all know the talent is here so Reyes will stay.

with regards to Beltran, it also depends on who we would play in RF next season if we were to move him. given the way he looks right now, Fernando Martinez isnt an option and the next best options on the FA market (that we can afford) Cody Ross or Austin Kearns really isnt the way to go.

so basically if the goal is to make the playoffs next season, we probably have to keep both unless the Mets can get a real starting OF in return for Beltran (which i doubt). What the Mets need to do is spend the money on the good 2B and have capable starters on the bench.

        1. TRS86

Oleo what I am saying is that the offensive woes are much more on the shoulders of Reyes, Beltran and Bay than they are on Castillo, Frenchy and the catchers.

          1. oleosmirf

Beltran, yes but Bay and Reyes arent the ones dragging this team down.

Beltran, Tejada and Francouer batting a combined .220 is the real problem.

          2. TRS86

Come on Oleo, for the Mets to have been good this year they needed at least career average seasons from those guys. If Frenchy, Tejada and the Catchers all had career years our offense would still struggle without Reyes, Beltran and Bay. While I would love to blame the role players, the stars let us down.

          3. oleosmirf

sure Reyes and Bay have been rather poor but even if Reyes, Wright and Bay were all having career years, no team can overcome 3 everyday players playing that badly.

          4. TRS86

No team can overcome 3 stars playing that badly.

Lol at Failcouer starting again. We bring up Tejada and Martinez and while F-Mart is outperforming Tejada he gets less playing time.

Jerry never sticks to his decisions.

F-Mart will start, no he will platoon, on second thought Frenchy will start 80% of the time.

    1. oleosmirf

not to mention Francouer is starting vs a RHP…
