   honest question: Do the mets still think they are in the race? Or are they just kind of playing “wink wink, nudge nudge”, pretending so as to keep the fans nominally interested?

   I ask, since tonights line up features 4 guys that have zero to slim chance of being here next year (and the one slim would be a bench guy).

   Frenchy and Barajas have no chance (although I guess they are both technically trade bait for another 12 days). Carter could be a bench guy, but just as likely cut loose. And castillo I think will be gone somehow.

   Yet, they all keep getting starts at the expense of looking at better options (or at least options for next year).

   And of course, being lead by dead man walking Jerry.

      Well if you heard the Jerry Manuel report he says they are still fighting for playoff spot and you have to expect him to say that.

      He can’t come out and say the season is over so as far as Jerry is concerned until the FO tell him otherwise he has to try and win as many games as possible while the hope however small exists that they can make playoffs.

      My problem is the FO is sending mixed signals they cut a guy like Cora because according to Cora they are going with the kids. They then bring up FMart and Tejada only to let FMart get limited playing time and now bring up Barajas and send FMart right back down while now Thole has to give up playing time to Barajas.

      I just am at a loss.
