In a surprising turn of events, The Los Angeles Dodgers have claimed catcher Rod Barajas off of waivers according to The Dodgers have claimed Rod Barajas on waivers, according to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News. According to the Dodgers Twitter account, the Mets will receive cash considerations in return.
This season, the 35 year old Barajas, has hit .225/.263/.414 with 12 homers in 267 plate appearances this season. Around the July 31st trade deadline, it was rumored that the Red Sox offered reliever Ramon Ramirez in exchange for Barajas.
The Mets have recalled outfielder Jesus Feliciano to take his place on the roster.
I am happy for Rod, he is a good catcher with a below average bat. But that bat came in handy earlier this season when it seemed like he was mashing home-runs every day. Plus you have to like the way he handled this pitching staff. I am a bit perturbed that the Mets basically sold him to the Dodgers , I mean I am sure they could have gotten some kind of mid level prospect for him , but alas I guess the money they get for him will help finance Oliver Perez’s salary for next season.
” Thankyou for the memories Hot Rod !!”
