This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty : The ” Song Remains The Same ” Edition 08-24-10

Well thank goodness for the off day yesterday. Other than the usual wackjob callers pontificating on WFAN about how the Mets suck – I was kinda relieved that to know I wouldn’t have a bout of heartburn because of the Mets that night.
So with the night off from the Mets I was listening to some music and it occurred to me – if you could put this season to music it would probably be “ Stuck in the Middle With You” by Stealer’s Wheel. Then I wondered what song would be most appropriate for our Mets player.
Well to quote Lando Calrissian – ” here goes nothing” !

Jose Reyes - Racing with the Devil On A Spanish Highway : Al DeMeola

Ike Davis : New Kid In TownThe Eagles.

John Maine : I Don’t Need No DoctorHumble Pie

Luis Castillo – Them BonesThe Herman Munster version

Johan Santana : The TrooperIron Maiden

Mike Pelfrey : Lick UpKiss

Jason Bay :Head GamesForeigner

R.A Dickey : Five Knuckle Shuffle - Anvil

Jerry Manuel : The JokerSteve Miller Band

Francisco Rodriguez: Momma Said ( Knock You Out !) -L.L Kool J

Fred & Jeff Wilpon, Omar Minaya – ( toss up) Flirting With Disaster - Molly Hatchet or The theme from the Three Stooges !

If you have any better songs please feel free to comment .

                                                 ” Yadda Yadda yadda !”

And with that said… HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!

Birthday wishes go out to Mets third string catcher from ’78-’80, Butch Benton is 53 (1957) .

Mets middle reliever from “04-’06, Bartolome Fortunato is 36 (1974) .

New York Mets signed free agent back up catcher,Kelly Stinnett on August 24, 2006.

And the best song to describe Mo Vaughn is I’m Fat by Weird Al Yankovic !

    HAHAHA!

Man, I don’t know about using perhaps Alice in Chains’ very best song (OK, maybe along with Would) on Slappy!

By the way, LOVED number 8 in the Ollie list yesterday, about the alpacas…

    Nice work!

I nominate “where is my mind” by the Pixies for Ollie.

      Really good choice though!

Green Day’s American Idiot should be in there somewhere.

Dear God where did all these links come from? Mr. NJ I’m looking at you! Thank you that’s excellent.

Largely unrelated Hayseed Dixie’s Bohemian Rhapsody video is quite entertaining.

Love the Frank Black, Built to Spill & Soul Coughing references.

      2. Mr North Jersey

        How did you guess? :-D

The year 1986 can be represented by “A Taste of Honey,” Lenny Welch version.

    1. stickguy

I would go with a Clapton song.
