Burkhardt’s lineup in Ceetar’s honor – have fun at the game tonight Ceet.

Last chance for anyone to take my free ticket..Promenade Club access..oooooohhhh, aaaaaahhhh…

I’d love to but am broke and 75 miles away. Just getting there is out of my price range currently.

I did laugh out loud upon reading your “it’s free & you don’t even have to sit with me” tweet though.

I’m going cause it’s free. $19 to get there, will find free parking. Though about making/getting a sandwich for dinner and not eating/drinking while there, but preempted myself with “bah, I want beer” and whatnot.

With my free ticket though, I can actually exit into McFaddens and reenter with teh second ticket!

I love jerry. I mean, why play Carter against a RH SP, when you can start the dead wood frnechy instead?

How can his gut possibly tell him that Francouer gives them a better chance of winning than Carter?

Or is he still afraid of Jeff marching back into his office all pouty?

Now, if I was to by cynical (OK, I am), I would say stuff like this is Jerry’s way of sticking it to the Mets, knowing that he is dead man walking. I still think he wanted an early release so he could enjoy the summer at the beach, while still getting paid.

If He igves Ollie a start soon, you will know that I am right!

actually, I hope that this is just a last ditch effort to get Frenchy traded before 9/1. Because if he starts a game after that, it will be criminal.

Brad Hawpe was released. He would be interesting to look at for the balance of the season. Wouldn’t have to part with anyone vital to 2011 to make room for him. Doubt it happens.

Guys not that cones as a surprise but as per mlbtr A Mets official told ESPN’s Adam Rubin the team won’t be pursuing Cliff Lee in the offseason.

I don’t think we will be pursuing anyone with a price tag anywhere near Lee’s.

      :-(

        good.

not that great a business plan to commit huge $$ and many years to a 32 YO (turning 33 during next season) SP. Let the yankees have him!

and there isn’t anyone else in the FA pool that should get even vaguely close to that kind of money, so it doesn’t really limit the options much!

Oh, and I would not put any stock into what this unnamed “met official” sadi (implied? winked?) to Rubin. Especially considering it was probably the head janitor or something.

Wait, I know! Rubin told this to himself, since he considers himself part of the FO, right?

I don’t see how they could regardless of Madoff or whatever. Assuming they pick up Jose’s $11 million option the team has roughly $120 million committed to 10 players for 2011 as it is. I don’t see how they could add a top tier free agent and still fill out a roster.

Whoever is running the show this off season is going to have to be very creative to have any shot at fielding a legit post season contender in 2011.

        1. stickguy

          maybe not that creative.

If they had gotten a decent manager/coaches this year (as they should have), and not wasted 5mill bringing back Frenchy, and had cut bait earlier on Castillo, putting the savings (frenchy) + some of what they supposedly offered to molina and Piera into at least a league average 2B and RF, then they likely would have been (or more acurately, still be) in the playoff hunt this year.

they are only 5-6 wins right now, today, out of the WC lead (based on how far behind the phils they are). That is not a huge number, and certainly something that a few key moves (and better managing) could have done this year.

and for that matter, next year!

LOL….was there one Met fan who thought we were?

I guess Carter has hit too well recently to make it into Jerry’s lineup.

    1. stickguy

      Jerry frustrates me.

and against a tough RH SP, even makes less sense to do this.

has to be on orders to get him looked at for a trade, right? Maybe? Although an 0-4 with 3 Ks against JJ doesn’t sound like it would help!
