    What no Castilo?

Ok who made out the lineup?

Need to keep him rested for late game heroics.

And risk him getting injured at the pounding he will get if he delivers another game wining hit?

That is why Manuel must go as the Mets manager. No consideration for a player’s health. :-P

“Nobody’s ever loved a pounding more than the one Luis Castillo is receiving right there.” –Gary Cohen after Castillo’s game-winning hit.

I can’t remember where I read it but someone today alluded to roughly (not exact quote) “the last straw that Luis must go was the awful way he acted after last night’s game.” But wherever I read this did not elaborate and I have no idea what they’re talking about.

Obviously, he needed to style it, point to the heavens, and mock Hanley in the process.

Twitter led me to this link which answered my question in much longer form but you covered it with your comment here.

one could just as easily say that he had the look of someone who “has been there before.”

these “walk-off” celebrations are silly anyway.

I did not see anything wrong with the way he acted. They beat the Florida Marlins to secure 3rd place in August while down 9.5 games in the division. Castillo has to know that this is not a successful season for himself or the team. Why act like you did something big by winning a game.

Thanks for posting that link. And wow…In my excitement last night that they actually got a walk off win, I didn’t really notice Castillo’s reaction.

So much water under the bridge now. All I can say – and this is from experience – ‘Lois, it’s a bitch getting old’.

Sometimes, you just have to keep reminding yourself of the big picture…which is better than the alternative to getting old…..

            Jeeze….Luis…..not Lois…..

nice to see Francouer sitting against RHP, o wait I forgot, Manuel is still here.

i’m glad francoeur’s role has been reduced.

      Truly baffling.

a little surprised to see tejada starting again. at some point, his incredible inability to hit will get him benched.

but another RHSP, and carter on the bench? Jerry just baffles me.

    1. oleosmirf

      quite sad

  5. metsfan4decades

    Jerry-ball at its finest…

  6. TRS86

I think the issue is they really do not think Carter can play defense well enough to start in the OF. Or they are trying one last ditch effort to get Frenchy gone by the 30th.

    1. Ceetar

      Jesus..

      promote someone different.

*shrug* It’s less of an issue than the Tejada thing.

      1. TRS86

As I said, I guess they are trying to see if they can’t get him a new home this week. That being said he has had better AB’s of late.

        1. Ceetar

Yes, but Frenchy has “long AB” and gets to play, Castillo has the walkoff hit, and sits.

          1. TRS86

Well 3 things with that. One, no one is taking Castillo on a waiver deal. No one is on the team to play RF that is the “future”. Maybe there is something to the Castillo pouting story.
