has to be a DFA candidate. Start cleaning out the over priced deadwood (him, frenchy) clogging up th e40 man roster.

so much for yesterdays “hey we got good pitching” theme. I’m looking at you, Carson!

since the Mets are still oblivious to everything and keep playing Francouer b/c of this belief he is the best option for the playoff race, they might as well put in a claim for Manny.
he might be awful in the field but since playing the kids wont happen until Sept 15th, we might as well put him in LF and let him bat clean up. might make these games actually watchable.

I think Buffalo is done on 9/6, unless they pick up a few games and make the playoffs.

yea but the Mets wont be mathematically out on 9/6, therefore Francouer still plays b/c apparently his .228 BA and a 75 OPS+ is the best option we have for the 3rd OF spot.

even with this bunch of clowns, it won’t take until mathmatically eliinated.
if they are 10+ out by 9/6 (entirely possible), and 8+ behind 3-4 teams (also possible), even Omar and Jerry will have to admit the futility.

FWIW Jerry was asked in a recent post game about this concept of playing certain players when “in it” and other players when “not in it” and when asked directly “when would you play young players with an eye toward the future” he responded “when we’re mathematically eliminated.”
So assuming Jerry was being truthful might as well claim Manny would be “exciting” and might “put fannies in the seats” even though it would be “stupid” and “wasteful” in “reality.”

obviously playing the prospects is the best choice but since we know that wont happen for at least 3 weeks, might as well take the money saved on K-Rod and spend it on Manny.

this was exactly the reason that Jerry should have been removed early for an interim (transition) guy.
that, and he would play a lousy vet even if th eother choice was doing better!

In all seriousness I think the Mets would never claim Ramirez because in order for that claim to have any merit they would have to offer him arbitration and hope he signed elsewhere as a free agent thus they’d get draft picks but they’d be afraid he’d accept the arbitration and they’d be stuck with a $20 million bad defensive, declining offensive OF that doesn’t fit on the roster.
