On first reading that title it might sound like a clever way for me to say that the Mets game was so uninspiring that it pushed me into football season-mode. Well, sort of. The reality is that the Mets game was so uninspiring that my television spent most of this evening tuned to either the NY Giants pre-season football game on WNBC-TV or a documentary on The History Channel called Jaws: The Inside Story about one of my all-time favorite movies (Jaws of course). By the way it’s been 35 years since I first saw the movie and I still haven’t gone into the ocean deeper than my waist.
So anyway I can’t really say much about the Houston Astros versus New York Mets game. After Mets starter Johan Santana (10-9) allowed the Astros 4 singles and a walk in the 1st inning that led to 2 runs and knowing the 2010 Mets propensity for not scoring when Santana pitches I pretty much threw in the baseball towel and exchanged it for a beach towel at that point. I pulled that beach towel over me and made sure my feet didn’t dangle too far over the edge of the couch in case any sharks passing through my living room might find my feet appetizing. Later I flicked back to the Mets game in time to see Carlos Lee crush a 2-run homer to left to make it 4-0 Astros and that cinched it for me. I see that the Mets got a run somehow, somewhere, and if you don’t happen to know how that occurred I recommend the box score link below. I’ll check it myself sometime later maybe if the Mets-mood strikes. Final score Houston 4, New York 1. Meanwhile back to Bruce the mechanical shark.

I am so sorry I let my friend talk be into seeing that movie back when I was a teenager. Needless to say, I never saw the sequels…
That was the most listless, boring, zzzzzz game this year IMO.
Johan…not that he had a great first inning, has the 3 lowest run support in the ML. That has to be completely frustrating. As frustrating as it for us Met fans to watch this completely non existent offense night after night.
Good new is since it’s been Win one, lose one for so long now…we should win tomorrow….

damn. If I had known about the jaws special, I would have watched that instead of a dumb movie.
We’re gonna need a bigger boat!
and Al Sharpton is on the news. man, he lost a ton of weight.

oh, the game. Even on gameday, it was sad and listless. A runner every inning, and never a follow-up hit to get something going. story of the season.
and Johan did not seem sharp. FB down on velocity, lots ofpitches and hits off him. Certainly not a good game by him.
I hate the lineup, and can’t stand Jerry.
at least frenchy provided a classic Frenchy moment, when he had a chance to put the mets back in the game, and flailed at 3 random pitches to K. Dumb Arse.
Jerry, Hojo, Warthen (I blame him for the SPs for never seeming to be prepared for the 1st inning), ollie, slappy, frenchy. and of course, now Omar. all need to be gone.
maybe a few more, but after that group, I am flexible.

its just funny how the mets organization will continue to make excuses instead of actually addressing the problem.

they have been backed into a corner at this point. They are going to have to take serious (for them) action this off season.
and they almost have to go all the way, since it will be hard to get half way there and stop, but with this crew, i suppose they will give it a shot anyway.
