A sad season is becoming sadder by the day.
As I said on another thread, does anyone yet comprehend the irony of the support for Carter?
Carter is Francoeur without speed, fielding ability or an arm. Compare the stats.
We are headed for a sub-.500 4th place finish.
The Marlins are a better team than we are.
We better pray that Johan/Pelf/Niese/Dickey/Mejia are ready to be the team’s backbone next year, as this is all that will give us a chance at a .500+ finish.

I know you are right, but after years of being a somewhat blind optimist, well, to quote Jules Winfield in Pulp Fiction, everyone can “go walk with the shepherd, but me, my eyes are wide fu***** open.”
This is a truly mediocre team.
Wish it were not, but it is, and Rusty, yes, I cannot wait until later this week, when kids from the minors come up and hopefully take time from garbage like Frenchy, Carter, and Hessman, who I pray and as far from this team as possible in 2011.

they (the SP) have been the backbone this year, so might as well be one next year. But, no way should Mejia be in the mix to break camp in the rotation. If nothing else, he will be way under inninged this year.
They need to add a solid, reliable vet SP to the rotation, and pencil mejia in the minors until he proves he is ready and there is a need. Bring him along slowly at this point,
besides, if they add another “real” SP (say, a Lilly level, or probably many other options), they can have a rotation with no one that is even low enough to be considered a 5th SP.
The future is not as dim as you are seeing it at the moment my friend. And, I expect they will finish above .500, and considering how many things went wrong, and the amazing offensive drought (and of course the keystone Koaches), that is pretty damned impressive!

Mets win..
Dickey pitched well again. Dickey hit with bases loaded was huge as far as i am concerned.
Like the text poll SNY did majority fans said do not trade reyes n wright. Can’t say it was a surprise.
More of a surprise was hearing Gary petition for Beltran to move to a corner OF spot. Didn’t think he would consider such a thing but can’t say I disagree with him despite the opinions of many to do the contrary and leave him alone.
Carter got a hit today. I can’t help but think of Kingy whenever Carter does anything pro or con.
It was a nice day overall and looking forward to Grave’s post to tie up a nice weekend.

Not sure I have read many comments out there that they should leave Beltran alone. Even I think they should move him. They just need to give him about a week to get out there shagging some balls.

at this point, it probably wont happen until next year (ST) anyway at the earliest.
I could also see him getting more days off in september once they are “officially” out of the race. Let the MiL guys get more PT.

You wonder if they would sit him a lot the rest of the way? Then again trying to understand what the Mets are doing has left the savviest of baseball people wondering.
