Wow if you were to have told me that this lineup would score 18 runs I would have said you were doing Rick James personal supply of crack

well, the cubs pitching + the wind blowing out can really help an offense.

but, we at least discovered the anchor on the team. It was wright. bench him, and the runs pile up.

so, does jerry’s cut tell him to bench david again tomorrow?

seriously though, get turner up here too, and we can see everyone that I think/hope/wonder can have an impact on the team next season get some time.

although I assume that today’s outburst has now locked tejada into the 2B job, so no new player for there next year. Not that the FA options are that exciting (even gritty McHudson), but I suppose a ST free for all could work out.

and I will be berating you people all winter with my 4 starting OF concept for next year (the rotation of bay, beltran, pagan and Duda (at least to start).

but man, I really wanted to see ollie closing this out in the 9th.

oh, and it was very nice to see Ike continue his recent offensive rebound. Even better than some hits, was taking the ball to LF with some authority. If he gets into that mode, it will greatly help him as a hitter.

He may end up being the clean up guy next year after all. since they really don’t have another viable option.

That was fun…finally. I thought the game would never end :)

Good to see the kids all contributing. Ike and Beltran looking good this series too. If Ruben can even remotely hit for some kind of average he’d be a great complimentary piece to this team. Has a strong arm and good fundies, as evidenced in that one inning where Castro forgot how many outs there were, Ruben held onto the ball long enough for him to get far enough off first (on his way back to the dugout, no less) and threw to first for the double play.

Given the fact that Ollie didn’t pitch today, in this big blowout, pretty much a given the only way he gets a chance now is if we’re out of pitchers.

Johan missing his start and Gee pitching in his place.

loved that castro play. I can only imagine the uproar over that in the blogshpere if a met had done that.

I think now that they called up a few arms (gee and valdez) that you have seen the last of ollie. maybe if some SP gave up an 8 spot in the 1st and had to get pulled, but maybe not even then.

Jerry did not use him as the 7th man in the pen, think he is going to use him as the 9th?

And I fully well believe you have seen the last of ollie on the field in a game for the mets. And quite possibly, if they call up turner tomorrow, castillo may be MIA too.

as to santana, probably a wise idea. give him a day off, and let him make his next start. the rest will likely do his body good.

Probably but Johan clearly wasn’t happy about it as evidenced in his post game interview. He fell just short of coming out and saying he was pissed….

players are stubborn. or warriors. whatever you want to call them, but they want to play. It is up to the team leaders to make decisions in the best interest of everyone (the players, and the teams, future)

so it is nice for a change to see the mets make a decision and stick by it (assuming they do), instead of just letting a player cajole them into letting them play semi-injured.

now, if this was the beginning of the playoffs, the decision likely could be different. But we won’t have to worry about that until next year!

lost in the shuffle, and not really important but at least vaguely interesting, the padres are in the process of a early september collapse of epic proportions. They have now lost 10 straight, and a once significant lead is down to 1 game.

sucks for them, but at this point, I am rooting for whatever team that can beat the phillies in the playoffs.

wow….everyone waited all season to watch the Padres regress. After 1 Aug., everyone just took it for granted they were for real this year.

Kind of sux for that fan base to see them lose it in the last month after their very good season.

But as we’ve all been there, done that with epic collapses, I’m just as happy to pass that torch.
