Gee, after the offensive outburst yesterday, I didn’t expect to see DW in the lineup for a while.

Jerry is still a head scratcher. I assume Hernandez is this year’s Tatis, giving FT duty to an old journeyman with no future, while young guys that could use evaluation (hey, hurry up and get turner here. I want him starting tomorrow!) ride the bench.

and Ike has a big, big day yesterday, so of course drop him down, and stick carter in the 3 hole? Putting Wright at clean up, where he never seems to do well (my opinion of course, all subjective), or at least does not belong.

DW 3rd, Ike 4th, then maybe carter 5th?

But, at least Jerry did not bench Tejada. I was actually kind of expecting that.

Hernandez is only 5 months older than Turner. I expect both of them are (at least right now) in competition for 2011 Mets 40-man roster spots.

Oh. Must have been confusing him with someone else. I thought he was like 32.

maybe just because he was not very good in th eminors?

still, want to see turner up here.

What does jerry care – he’s gone in a scant few weeks

still think they should fire him now, and let Obie finish out the year. What the hell, half of his team is in the starting line up anyway.

Used the “Fail Mr. Met” graphic for the lineup yesterday and they scored 18 runs so I say we should use it everyday until they don’t score 18 runs.

Texas Rangers just cut Alex Cora. I guess 2 ex-Met clubhouse guys on their team was 1 too many.

So that’s how a functioning Front Office does things. ;)

      1. stickguy

be nice. The Mets cut him 1st, and the rangers picked him up after he proved to be one of the worst offensive performers in MLB.

though they did get him a whole bunch cheaper!

        1. GravediggerHebner

I think the Texas Rangers order of preference must be:

          German > Cora > Arias

but hey at least we’ve got Arias.

    2. stickguy

I expect to see tomorrow him spouting off that the Rangers aren’t trying to win, and that their fans deserve the truth for this travesty of unfairness.

Oh wait, they just figured out how bad he is now. Never mind.

take this as a hint Alex. Time to get started on that managing career. Unless he wants to take a ST invite, and try to hang on (in the minors?) for another year.

Hey, good chance there will be a spot onen in Brooklyn next year!

another head scratcher. Saw this piece over on the ESPN met blog.

“UNFAIR TURN? Barring a late reversal, the Mets are done with September call-ups. The most curious snub: infielder Justin Turner.

Claimed off from the Baltimore Orioles in May, Turner enters Buffalo’s season finale on Monday hitting .320 with 10 homers and 34 RBIs in 306 at-bats with the Bisons.

A favorite of Mets special assistant Wayne Krivsky, Turner conceivably could be a factor in the second base competition with Ruben Tejada and Daniel Murphy in 2011 if Luis Castillo is dumped as expected. Or, at the very least, the 25-year-old Turner could provide an inexpensive bench role as a backup middle infielder. ”

Why they would not want to get a look at him, I don’t know. but what love to hear an explanation. And short of that, should we assume this means Wayne K is not in the future plans (being his favorite?)

Maybe even sadder, in the same piece, they mentined that Sean Green was being called up back in August (when K Rod went down), but couldn’t be due to a procedural issue (K rod was on the ineligible list of some kind, not the DL), so they had to call up Iggy instead.

And also noted that there is now a bigger chance they bring him back next year. Man, I thought that ship had sailed. If money is tight, blowing 1mill+ on Green seems, well, stupid.

I have no idea what they’re thinking.
And I have no idea why I’m looking at Sean Green up in the BP right now…..
There is no reason to have Sean Green up here – none.

        This is gonna turn ugly

        1. stickguy

This team continues to surprise (shock? amaze? befuddle?) me.

I would have sworn that we had seen the last of Green.

maybe the slight credit I was giving the FO for having some poulse on the fanbase was misguided. And that scares me, because that foolishness is what can lead to some bizarre justification for bringing back Ollie next year.

I don’t care if he is on the 40 man. THere are plenty of other pitchers already. They did not need him. and it would be insane to offer him arbitratino for next year (though at this point, they probably do).

          1. asod75

Yeah just designate that s**t stain for assignment and replace him with someone with actual talent on the 40-man. I’ve also seen enough of Iggy to know he sucks donkey schlong…..

        2. metsfan4decades

Wish your prediction had not come true, Rusty.

          Sigh….

    2. asod75

Turner goes 6-for-6 and hits for the cycle in Buffalo’s 16-1 win today. He has to be here, and it’s this type of non-move that leads some to pull the race card with the Mets. This guy is a better hitter than Arias, Hernandez and Tejada, at least looking at career minor-league numbers. He’s got to be here.

  5. metsfan4decades

Rusty hit the nail on the head, this was one ugly game. –Ugly enough to see Ollie for 2 innings.

Bobby O all over Pelf in the post game.
‘Pelfrey needs to bear down when he’s getting in trouble. Slow it down, refocus. Walk off the mound, fix your hat, retie your shoe, curl your hair, whatever it takes. And he’s enough of a veteran now where he doesn’t require Warthen coming out there to burp him and change his diaper.

Next up for Bobby O’s scathing comments was Iggy.

And you know what? Bobby O is right. Enough is enough already. I mean, what is it, collectively, about this team that they just cannot get their act together?

    Omar must go.

And looking at this Nats team, with the pitching they’ve acquired and the prospects that are contributing, if the GM doesn’t turn this around and fast, we might be looking at the bottom half of the NL East for years to come.

    Dang….
