The Savannah Sand Gnats have held back to back seasons of great pitching. In 2009 they impressed with pitchers like Armando Rodriguez, Jeurys Familia, and Eric Beaulac. This season they continue to impress with pitchers like Mark Cohoon, Michael Powers, Brandon Moore and this year’s S.A.L. “Most Outstanding Pitcher” James Fuller.
What you should know is that the man that has been mentoring these arms in Savannah the last 2 seasons has been their pitching coach Marc Valdes. This season Valdes was recognized for his work by being voted as the Coach on the 2010 All-Star team.
The Mets talk of late has been about who will be the next manager but as the Baby Mets start to make their way to Queens maybe they should keep an eye at how well Marc Valdes has done so far in grooming and bringing along the future arms of this organization.

I would be fine if he started next week replacing Warthen.
Oh wait, too late… Dang it.
