Rockies on the Network at all?

Why would I watch football when baseball is on? *Boggles*

      1. Mr North Jersey

Clearly sir you are not a Jets fan. :-P

        1. stickguy

          Go big blue!

although I will likely put on the Jets, after Bachelor pad is over and my daughter goes to bed.

        2. Ceetar

          nope.

Mets, whoever’s playing the Yankees or Phillies, other interesting baseball game, Islanders, Giants, whoevers playing the Rangers, etc.

          1. Mr North Jersey

            lol

pretty close to next year. Substitue bay in for duda or beltran (depending on the day), and plug in a real 2B, and that will likely be your regualar team.

Oh, and hopefully a better SP then Gee, unless he has a great spring and this is the 5 hole in the rotation!

    1. GravediggerHebner

Yes, Duda & Hernandez were the reasons I titled this post the way I did. The other guys I’m actually hoping are (at least on defense if not necessarily in the batting order) right where they will be in 2011.

A healthy Bay, and as much as I hate him and don’t believe it has a snowball’s chance of happening Dan Uggla, and I like the lineup.

      1. njstuckintx

        Daniel Murphy = Uggla Lite!

  3. Mr North Jersey

The Jets do have their season opener tonight right? Listening to Francesa you would never know it. :-D

    1. stickguy

he hates the Jets too? Dope. or is this some kind of feud? But I do seem to recall him ragging on the jets, and giving them no chance in the playoffs last year.

even though I am a giant fan, I like the jets, their fans, and want to see them do well. ONly with the Yankees do I hate the other team in town!

      1. Ceetar

I hate the Eagles and Cowboys. Jets are certainly making a case with all the trash talking though.

        1. Mr North Jersey

          Go Green!!!

    2. GravediggerHebner

I’m a Giants fan and basically for the last 35 years I’ve barely known that the Jets exist. I don’t hate them, I’m just indifferent to them. They do nothing for me. But recently they’ve been so omnipresent that I might start to dislike them a bit, unless they just fall flat & fail to live up to the hype in which case I’ll just resume my indifference.

So certainly tonight if my sports viewing choices are the essentially eliminated Mets or the Jets I’m watching the Mets. I’m just hoping that the Mets game will end in a timely fashion because I am interested in checking out some of that late KC-SD football game.

I have always been led to believe that fan allegiances are predominantly Mets/Jets & Yanks Giants though so despite or perhaps because of my not being in that mold I am curious to see what sort of crowd makes it to Citi Field tonight.

      1. stickguy

I know quite a few Met/Giant fans (including myself). And a few more classic yankee/giant combos.

I do my best to not associate with Yankee fans, so I don’t know if any of the other yankee fans I know of are jet fans!

my former BIL is a yankee/packer fan. Not sure how that happened.

        1. asod75

I’m a Met/Giant fan as well. At least the G-Men have done me proud more often than not (three titles in my lifetime, another Super Bowl appearance and countless other playoff appearances). Not sure of what to make of this year’s team. Eli has a ton of weapons, and Nicks is a beast. If they can run the ball well, they’ll be fine on offense. Plenty of talent on D, hope they can put it to good use. Never minded the Jets myself, but their trash-talking wears thin for a team that’s never done anything (save for 1969). Always hope teams like that take a dump and get a lesson in humility. Always hated Buddy Ryan, looks like Rex is a chip off the old block….

          1. Mr North Jersey

            Boo :-P

      2. Ceetar

There’s that perception, probably stems from Mets/Jets both playing on LI.

It stands up. Growing up on LI I noticed a lot of Jets fans. since moving to Jersey, It’s predominately Giants.

      3. Mr North Jersey

I never got into the whole rivalry mode that exists between Jets & Giants as it exists between Mets & Yankees.

I am a fan of both teams and never root against any of them unless they play each other where I then root for the Jets.

Having the Jets pretty much not accomplishing much in their history I can see how strictly Giants fans would view them with indifference.

Until last year the last time i looked forward to a Jets season was in 1999 after losing to Broncos the year before in the playoffs and that season quickly died once Testaverde tore his Achilles in the very 1st game of the season.

I just hope no one tears anything after tonight’s game.

      4. saltygary

I’m a Mets/Giants guy simply because those 2 teams were good when I started getting into sports in ’84.

I’ve always refused to take the “Yankee” road and hate the little green Jets. Also there was never a need to have a rivalry. When they made the playoffs I rooted for them and am interested to see if they can back up their words. They have a great defense and a lot of unknowns in offense so we will see.

Other than that, nice win by Big Blue. Started off shaky and then got their head out of their patoots.

        1. asod75

This Davidoff guy just won’t stop with his lame jokes: Not bad! ;) RT @BattingStanceG @KenDavidoff hearing % chance of success in Johan Santana’s surgery tomorrow are 80-82.

          1. asod75

Sorry, didn’t realize that was someone else’s tweet to Davidoff. But the 80-82 thing is really getting on my nerves. Give it a rest, dork!

  4. hazmet

Just watched the pre-game and I realized there’s only one thing worse than a Jerry Manuel interview and that’s a 2 part Jerry Manuel interview.

    1. stickguy

can the interviewers even keep a straight face, knowing that he is dead man walking? Does Jerry even bother to pretend to care about whatever he is babbling about (he for sure does not seem to care about the team at all)

  5. asod75

Free Justin Turner! I’ve seen enough of Luis Hernandez to know he’s not all that good. Minor-league numbers would show that as well.

  6. Mr North Jersey

I guess the question will be which offense was more pathetic tonight Mets or Jets?

    1. Mr North Jersey

Maybe we can add Reyes as a wideout for Sanchez and see if he can outrun some of these dbacks?

I wouldnt mind seeing Nick Mangold swing at a baseball and see what happens if he makes contact.

    2. stickguy

jets, but only because the Mets won!

      1. Mr North Jersey

        LoL can’t argue with that.
