NO, No, No, No, No

This is a strong statement for a situation that is so up in the air:

No, no, no, no, no …. no RT @TWagner64: he did punch her father. Do you see him on the Mets next season?less than a minute ago via TweetDeck

I can see that being a reason for her breaking up with him, but what exactly does she have to do with the MEts?

I guess maybe you need to see the string that this belongs in to get the full flavor!

Yes, K Rod was a dopeass for punching someone in the stadium (or at all), but it sounds like a bad family dynamic if nothing else. It would be interesting to see what happens if it went to a trial, and they were able to bring up the issue of provocation (who started it).

of course I don’t know nuttin, but it really kinda sounded like the concept of “he deserved it” was in play!

oh, and I expect he will be on the Mets next season. No idea about 2012 though.

also a tad fuzzy on why she needed a protective order.

    1. wannybackstra

i’m not certain why she was included within this protective order but she’s apparently had others against him in the past. perhaps she feared for her safety this time, as well, based on his mental state, his actions against her father and her past with him.

      1. stickguy

did not know about prior incidents.

maybe next time, Mets should do some homework before ponying up a huge $$ LT deal for a guy!

but it does sound like K Rod has a tad wee bit of an anger management issue.

      2. metsfan4decades

I have no idea what the whole situation is about and it truly is none of my business.

However….anyone that has a protective or restraining order against another individual in the past – not once but twice – probably needs some therapy herself for continuing with that relationship if the other party didn’t get therapy.

Absolutely amazes me sometimes how many people the common sense factor seems to have passed by.

        1. stickguy

not saying it is necessarily the case here, but sometimes you get the money factor in play. As in, K Rod is the gravy train, and her and the family are reluctant to get off.

There are the kids, so child support, but if she feels like leaving, the family will not be living in his fancy house, etc.

Heck, theoretically possible the FIL purposely pushed the buttons he knew would get K Rod to pop, just to get into this position. Kind of like getting run into on purpose by a guy with a fancy car! Wold not be the first time that kind of golddigging happened.

          1. metsfan4decades

            Oh, no doubt about it.

I have no idea what the laws are regarding common law spouses and what happens when those relationships dissolve – (unlike a divorce) but I’ll bet she gets at least one of his houses…which from what I read, he’s got several.

          2. stickguy

could be interesting, if they are not actually US citizens, and jus there on visas. I guess that means they are governed under the domestic partner laws in the dominican (or wherever he is from?)

            quite the soap opera though.

You know Krod isn’t sane. I mean, he was rocking a Gorton’s Fisherman Beard for crying out loud. If that doesn’t scream crazy or Amish, I’m not sure what does. And I don’t think he’s Amish.

And as to not being on the Mets, the options are keep him, trade him or kick him to the curb with a voided contract. Say you aren’t keeping him and say the contract isn’t voided… Good luck trying to trade that busted bag o’ crazy and get anything of worth back. Maybe eating a ton of that salary, but even so, that isn’t a place of power to work from.

    1. wannybackstra

the week closer market could be the only thing in the mets’ favor this offseason as far as trading him. rafael soriano is the only worthwhile guy. the next tier are jon rauch and chad qualls and octavio dotel (this assumes mariano stays put).

that said, k-rod’s option for 2012 all but kills any potential deal. some team will forgive him for being an asshole. but none will excuse him for getting paid $17m in 2012.

      1. stickguy

forgetting for a moment the backage, heck, forget the options year.

How many teams are actually interested in paying a closer that kind of money?

just the 13mill or so 2011 deal will take a huge # of teams out of the running.

        1. wannybackstra

          yeah., that too.

i’m sure most teams would roll the dice with rauch for half that money since he performed well in the role this season.

        2. metsfan4decades

          Wouldn’t bother the Yankees….
Money seems to be no object to them and they might be in the market for a closer soon.

      2. wannybackstra

fuentes is available too — if that kind of thing excites you.

kerry wood might get my vote for guy to bring in if k-rod is let go. maybe he’d be a guy who could fill the spot temporarily while parnell is evaluated some more.

but i’m with stick, agreeing it unlikely the mets prevail in voiding his deal.

    2. stickguy

I assumed that he would be on the Mets since I was not figuring the contract would be voided. But, we shall see.

you are correct IMO that he is practically trade proof with the current contract in place.

so the most likely scenerio might be to keep him, but prevent the vesting option somehow? Although if he is good enough (and the team is winning), I guess the option vesting is not the worst thing in the world.

Speaking of women and their effect on local sports teams, this woman has a question for Mr. Sanchez:
    Ines

    1. wannybackstra

clinton portis says she must want someone in the locker room after checking out all of their packages.

      1. GravediggerHebner

That’s the Clinton in him talking.

        1. wannybackstra

that hillary is such a cougar.

    2. Mr North Jersey

      Viva Mexico!!!

  5. stickguy

You know what will be the most fun to see?

Mets end up keeping him, with the contract guaranteed (they will get out of this years 3mill).

and somewhere in August, if the team is not in the race, they make someone else the primary closer, and start bringing him in earlier in the game (of course, to limit GFs.).

I am really curious to see how he handles that scenerio!

    1. wannybackstra

or how the union handles it…

      1. stickguy

and, if nothing else, just roll him out for save ops. No more finishing up games just to get work in. If he wants a game like that, just don’t let him finish it up!

    2. wannybackstra

it’d be a bad move anyway. what free agent would ever accept a deal from the mets with incentives or vesting options?

      1. stickguy

probably depends on how blatent it is. If the 8th inning guy is setting the world on fire, and K Rod is scuffling, then it is defendable.

And if it gets the mets away from huge back loaded vesting option contracts, that might not be a bad thing.

they probably plan on using the other out anyway (find a doctor to say he isn’t perfectly healthy).

actually, I wonder if they will strike a deal where he forfeits this years money (that has to be a done deal), and makes the option non-vesting (team or mutual instead), but the 2011 salary stays guaranteed?

Possibly the union (although they are not known for being reasonable) will go for this, as opposed to fragging it through arbitration?

Cause you know they don’t want to set a precedant for having contracts deemed non-guaranteed!

        1. TRS86

I think in the end that is what happens. They negotiate a settlement that voids the option and gives him no money for time missed.

    3. njstuckintx

However he handles it, there’s sure to be multiple text messages involved.

      1. metsfan4decades

        LOL….

Man, we’re just going to be the poster clowns for this circus going forward…..
