With the Mets guaranteed to have another losing year I thought this video provided by Vector2007 that shows the highlights of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series might cheer some Mets fans up. Make sure you listen to the incredible roar of the crowd. It gave me goosebumps.

‘…You have seen about a million words.’
They had that champagne on ice but had it in the wrong clubhouse and two days too early.
This remains my favorite Met game of all time.
Just thinking, with all that talent on that team that year – from Straw to Doc to Keith to Darling, I found it a little ironic that Knight won the MVP. Just goes to show you that it truly was a team effort with all contributing at one time or another along the way.
Thanks for the memories, Jerz. Already played it twice….

How bout the roar of the crowd 4D? MAN! if that isn’t just electric I don’t know what is.

I noticed that too when I listened. Same thing hit me when we played the Phillies last weekend. Those fans were loud at CBP.
The last week, Citi is so dead we’ve got GKR doing a segment as ‘homer’ announcers, Keith buying a round of hot dogs for all and Keith giving us the lowdown on his local bartender.
LOL…..pretty sad. Two ends of the spectrum there.

but it can change quick. Takes a couple of off years usually to get to the point the mets are at, but as soon as they put a “real” team together and make a run, the fans (and the noise) will be back.
and the real attendance is the following year (pretty sure 2007 was above 2006, and 1987 bigger than 1986). Especially early in the year.

Some thoughts:
-Ray Knight sucks at defense! That throw was Wright-esque and shows why David should be booted off the team. (sarcasm)
-Loved the Queen. Really connects the eras.
-HoJo striking out…so that’s where Wright gets it from.
-Everytime I see the clip I say it, and I’ll say it again…poor Buckner. Loss of the series was not nearly his fault alone.

Dude I thought the same thing when I saw Knight’s throwing error and HoJo striking out.

Buckner was certainly the scapegoat, and gets a ton of blame he does not derserve.
“lost the series”? BS. the manager and the BP blew game 6. And by the time Buckner became famous, the game was already tied.
So all he did was prevent the game form going another inning before boston lost, since they had no one left to pitch pretty much!
Not to mention, it was only an elimination game for the Mets.
