This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty : The ” No Win Situation” Edition 10-10-10

I admit that as of yet I have yet to watch a single inning of post season baseball this year, and at the rate things are going it will more than likely remain that way. You see I have that queasy feeling deep down in the pit of my stomach that we will once again see a rematch of last years World Series participants. That’s right folks if I was a betting man it looks as though this years fall classic will feature the two most evil franchises on the planet – The Phillies and the Yankees ! Last season I wrote that I would not root for either team because in this special instance there is no ” lesser than two evil” team to get behind. In my opinion if you root for the Yankees you are a a band wagoner who doesn’t deserve my time ( That means you Craig Carton !!!). And if you root for the Phillies – well then I guess you just have issues with your father !
Yes so if these two teams square off against each other in the World Series yet again I shall not watch even for a minute – I will find some good quality , wholesome alternate programing to watch.
That reminds me – what channel is the ” Dukes Of Hazzard ” on?

" Just walk away !"

And with that said ….. HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!

like last year, don’t root for either team to win. Root for them both to lose (and yes, I realize this is illogical captain).

still a chance one or the other could take a tumble in round 2. Phils offense at least hasn’t been really clicking, and the reds gave away game 2.

but like you, right now, I am planning for the worst while hoping for the Giants to pull a 2006 Cardinals on the Phils.

try being in the philly market. Big topic on the news last night? What do you watch tonight (On at the same time), the Phillies or Eagles game?

I’ll just watch desperate housewives with my wife and daughter. WIll be less painful.

I have been watching the post season play. I can’t believe the Twins just laid down and died like that. Swept? Really? SIgh….

Maybe the Rangers, who so far look like they’re advancing to the next round, can get it done against that Yankees.

Halladay aside, I have no idea what the Reds are doing. That game on Friday was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. 3 hbp, 4 errors and 5 unearned runs? Not sure I’ve seen the Mets play quite that bad.

I’m rooting for whoever can beat the Phils – and the Yankees. I really doubt that’s the Braves – especially with Wagner finished – so keeping my fingers crossed the Giants can get it done.

The Dukes of Hazzard is on CMT, which is channel 327 on my system. “Them Dukes, them Dukes…”

I have been watching the games in which neither the Phils or Yanks are playing and that Lincecum shutout was very impressive.

But the 2010 baseball season will likely be over very soon for me because I’m just not interested in watching those two teams play (unless I become aware that they are losing, but even that strategy fails as evidenced by the Reds blowing their big lead the other night).

At this stage for me it’s all about the Mets GM/manager search and hot stove.

      Agreed

I laugh cause that is my strategy for the most part all year. I don’t like watching the Yankees play if they have a lead.

I saw the Phillie No-hitter though 1st to see Halladay pitch then to watch history be made.

It has to be the only time I ever watched a phillie game vs another opponent in it’s entirety where the Phillies were winning for the entire game.

As far as No-Hitters go that was probably the easiest one I have ever seen. Everything was just easy outs. the 2 closest to what one would called slightly difficult was the flyball the pitcher hit to RF and the last out of the game.

Related to my comment about not watching those teams I want to preemptively add something to that.

Yes I am a baseball fan. I love baseball and I enjoy watching it very often. But I don’t enjoy watching the Phillies or Yankees and I liken it to being a fan of music but not being interested in listening to a particular artist within the industry. Lady Gaga for example may be a wildly successful musical artist but I have no interest in listening to her perform. Phillies and Yankees games are Lady Gaga for me.

Is this your Po Po Po Poker Face?

        :-P

At least the Ga-Ga has moments of looking good. Phils/Yanks are just ugly on brain.

      3. metsfan4decades

I certainly can’t blame anyone for not wanting to watch either the Phillie or Yankee games.

I watch for two reasons: hopefully to watch each lose and just to stretch out watching baseball for one more month. It’s a long winter for me w/o baseball as I’m not a football fan.

Seems the choice, per the blogpeople, is narrowed down.

I don’t have a problem with it if it does come to fruition.

      I’m jiggy wit it.

    2. rustyjr

You would have to be crazy not too

    3. GravediggerHebner

The only scary thing to me is that Bud Selig thinks it’s a good idea. That makes me question it. But other than that it seems to have a “slam dunk” aspect to it.

Hey Joel sherman can’t be wrong lol

somehow from what I have read (I know, somewhat circular logic here) Sandy would not likely be putting up with BS from the media pool. Not if they wanted to maintain access at least.

      2. njstuckintx

Yeah, that worried me at first, but then I figured he’d have to put in some sort of blessing if he was allowing Alderson to leave MLB operations to jump to a specific team.

    4. metsfan4decades

Whoever they choose, I’m hoping that GM is in place before the WS starts.

I don’t know much about any of these candidates but I like Alderson as his resume seems to indicate he’ll command the respect needed to run the Mets baseball operations forcing Jeff to take a step back.

  5. Mr North Jersey

If the Phillies and Yankees go back to the W.S. maybe they will have a Wildcat strike and we won’t have a W.S. this year.

I say Strike, Strike, Strike!!! LoL

    1. metsfan4decades

Sounds like a plan to me!

I see the Rays are making this interesting with a 5-0 lead. Looks like this series is headed back to Tampa Bay with 2 games apiece.
