I found it hard to watch that entire first clip. In fact, I just left it playing while going on to another site. If you’re not really a sport fan but it’s going to be your job to interview the CEO of the Padres, wouldn’t you do your homework first? I mean, the AL San Diego Padres?
I don’t know if he’ll be the next GM or not – although it’s looking that way – but what struck me with these two interviews as well as others I’ve heard is at least I won’t be cringing when talks to the media. Omar was so hard to take seriously because of his style of speaking – or lack there of.
Ironically, the most coherent interview I heard Omar do in all his years was when he addressed the media the day they made the announcement he was out. Probably because he had plenty of time to rehearse that.

mattsblog advocates signing fly ball pitchers, a curious strategy. but when he named bruce chen as a potential target i decided i can never visit that site again.

Every once in a while dreams come true.
When the LCSs started I wanted this WS so bad…I can’t believe I actually got it. I’m stunned and amazed. And very happy.

so glad my reverse jinx worked!
someone tell Knog that the gristly, internal fortitude laden Phils gagged in the clutch.
big guy with the huge contract taking a called strike 3 with a trip to the WS on the line. wonder if many phils fans will turn on him now for the rest of his career?
and finally, a WS that I can watch!
and maybe some hope for next year, because it is really hard to think that the Phils are going to be as good as they were this year. especially if (when) werth walks.

By all rights, the Phills had the better chance to win this game after they knocked Sanchez out in the 3rd when he was doing his best impression of Oliver Perez.
But they looked old, tired and just don’t know how to play small ball – at least not that I saw. Howard, taking strike 3 with the bat on his shoulder was just such a fitting end to their season.
On a side note, how good is this kid Bumgarner? Wish we had a 21 year old like that starting in the rotation next year.

watching the Fox local news and obviously they spent a lot of time on the phils. Interesting to see.
News guys pretty much called the team out (everyone but Werth) for not seeming to try hard enough or to care. Actually said they appeared to have the attitude of “we are supposed to win, how could this happen to us?”
and man, did they crucify (to a degree) Howard. Tons of Ks in the series, no RBIs, and not moving the bat on strike 3. Actually took an interview with a fan leaving the park to defend him, and say that you can’t scapegoat one guy for losing a series.
Just breaks my heart watching the pieces interviewing the fans at the local bars. So sad for them…
they also seem to have moved on to obsessing about the flyers and eagles.
and quite possible that the offensive issues will carry over into next year for the phils. They better hope that the old guys anchoring the rotation can hold up for another year.

Given the fact that Halladay pitched that last game with a groin injury that incurred in the 2nd inning, a WS win was gonna be a stretch for them, had they gotten there.
Cody Ross for MVP of this series. At least he wasn’t a Met killer in this series.

mid 30s pitcher, set a record for his innings, starting to pull those old muscles…
even Utley was looking like a shell of himself, and howard did not do much either.
Maybe locking up the old guys at huge $$ for a lot more years doesn’t turn out to be a great idea after all?
